Issue with XenServer Node
-
XenServer 6.2 running on Dell R510 nodes. Two identical nodes. Both installed XenServer just fine. One is working fine and the other is not. Trying to track down the problem.
-
The SAN is actually fine. The error that it is getting is caused by ylab-xs1 not connecting to it. Everything with ylab-xs2 is healthy. This is two PowerEdge R510 XenServer 6.2 hosts in a pool with shared iSCSI SAN storage from a Drobo B800i. The other storage is just a CIFS share from a desktop for ISO images.
-
I've checked and there are no log entries for ylab-xs1 which, of course, makes it that much harder to troubleshoot.
-
The server added halfway as if things were working. I've tested now and it cannot be pinged. I am not local to the machine so waiting on @Mike-Ralston to take a look and see what is physically going on.
-
@scottalanmiller Are you crazy? It's Saturday.
-
@Mike-Ralston This is Scott we are talking about.
-
@PSX_Defector True... I'll get to it if I do. @scottalanmiller This is the same issue we were having last night. It's hooked up, but not working. It displays as being connected, but not properly so. The machine is on, it's at the correct IP, the credentials were entered correctly.

Are you sure? Because it is not responding to pings.
-
@scottalanmiller in the server itself right now, yes.

But can it see the network? The node that works responds on the network, the node that doesn't work does not respond on the network. Maybe the cable is having an issue?
-
Didn't do something stupid like VLAN the port it's on right?
-
What criteria are you using to determine that it is online and healthy on the network?
How are you determining the status? -
There is no ARP table entry for it.
-
@scottalanmiller They worked fine, then @art_of_shred played with he network a bunch. No idea what happened. And no, there was no VLAN tampering.
-
Okay, well the current status is that that node is not on the network. Have you looked at the cables to see if they are correct?
-
@scottalanmiller Of course It's on, and plugged in.
-
Can that node ping anything else, like the gateway?

@scottalanmiller How do I ping something from it? It's not a command prompt.

Should be a way, you are looking at Linux attached to the console.
Have you tried basic things like switching the cable to a different port on the switch?
