I'm not trying to cause unnecessary trouble, but this is getting ridiculous.

Throw on the headphones. You live in an apartment with apparently thin walls and floors, and have neighbors who are looking for something to complain about.

Don't give them any ammo. Apartments suck, condo's suck (I know, lived in one for a year, then owned one for the past 8 years).

Make sure you know your lease agreement front and back too.

My wife ordered this one and likes it:

That reminds me, we had some super sensitive downstairs neighbors at our last place. They would complain that we walked too loud (even though we didn't wear our shoes indoors). They basically expected us to tiptoe around. They started harassing us and banging on the ceiling. We finally had to report them to the apartment complex, who set them straight. The management even offered to move them to a new unit on the top floor.

If she keeps calling the police and there is really no cause, the police will eventually take issue with her. But that takes a while and is at their discretion.

If you're willing, I won't complain. I can't offer you anything towards shipping, but I'd appreciate it.

@Hubtech , the thing I'd need to soundproot would be the ceiling, and I don't have the equipment or money to do it right now. Besides, because Texas seems to love the popcorn ceilings, and don't just use textured ceilings, or ceilings with sand paint, like they do in the North, it makes attaching anything to them even more difficult.

Oh cool it comes in purple. I need to sound proof half my house! I live with too many musicians!

What you want is a deeper baffle, that should eat most of the sound right up. Eggcrate stuff will get most of the random sound out of the way, actual performance would take something more.

Assuming they play in the garage, just foam up the wall next to the house. If they are playing in a corner of the house, foam up the interior walls. And if it's all over the place, foam up your office. 🙂

Yeah the office is what I need to put foam in. Between 6 guitars, drum set, Record player, various stereos and guitar amps everywhere in the house you can't get away from the noise. My office would be awesome covered in purple acoustic foam. It would be so quiet!

Direct your sound down and put thick rugs on the floor. That will help prevent bounce and keep direct echoes from hitting the ceiling. Poor man's sound-proofing. Also, you could find a way to put your speakers closer to wear you sit.

You could also surround your listening area with drapes or tapestry. Also check your entire apartment for hard surfaces and cover as many as possible with something soft like pillows and towels.

Any and all furniture helps. Empty rooms echo, full rooms absorb.

When I worked at IBM in the manufacturing facility they had foam on the walls to keep the noise down. The foam was actually warm from the energy it was absorbing. The sound turns into heat! That's how it deadens it, it actually converts it to another energy form.

as sound is an energy wave, and energy does not cease to exist. It has to go someplace. It is simply changing form.
