@thanksaj Looking really for server monitoring and possibly workstation monitoring. Kaseya has an ok product but the overhead is just too expensive. As it is now, we owe them a lot of money since our maintenance agreement lapsed (and the fact that they don't have a Net30/Net60 terms either doesn't help.)

Ok, but what are you looking to monitor? Are you looking for real-time only, or logged tracking?

I've heard a lot of good things about GFI Max.
I have used Kaseya in the past with their educational package... I can't say enough bad things about it. Although that may make me look unprofessional. I had issues with the software, their support, our sales rep, everything it was just a disaster.

@thanksaj Everything... from 'real-time' (read 5 minute) heartbeats to specific services running to logging, etc.
@coliver - I am in the same boat and feeling about Kaseya. We use it here in our district and it's awful. It's buggy, crashes, and the sales rep is not pleasant to work with... at all. That's why we want to jump ship ... esp if they tell us we have to pay for maintenance that we never used, on ALL licenses that we own... not just the one with pricing...
@Aaron-Studer - That's one of the vendors we're looking at... and honestly, the cheapest in terms of cost. Now the question is, how much would you mark that up for support?

We purchased it for a year with their "educational" pricing, which turns out really wasn't any different then their retail but I digress, and implementation was a mess to the point where it was basically unusable for the first three months. Finally got one of their software engineers on the line and he was next to useless but got me to the right spot to configure what I had to do. Then I think we had to open a ticket or two every month from then on just to get basic functionality working. It could have been our environment but I somehow doubt it.
I left that district a couple of years ago. I hear they purchased two Dell KACE appliances to take over after I left.

I've got 15 servers and over 200 workstations monitored, some servers have backup, all have antivirus and i'm paying around 5-600 a month for it. As for what you bill clients for it, it's up to what you're offering. If it's purely monitoring, not a lot, if it's resolution etc, you can make pretty good on it.

We do not mark GFI MAX/ MaxFocus up at all. We make this part of the package. Yes they pay the costs of it so we aren't eating that but. The costs we do charge for are reading reports, doing the patch management etc. This is just an added value that we can give a client.

I'm the same. GFI is essentially a tool that I use to monitor, remotely manage, provide anti virus, etc. I do not bill for GFI, but the services I supply due to the monitoring and accessibility provided by MaxFocus
