Outlook 2013 Junk issues
-
Since there was a request for more tech questions, here I go.
Outlook has been told many times to not put my GFI daily reports (and other emails) in the junk folder. And everyday some email that has a rule made for it AND has been told to be trusted ends up in the Junk folder.
Am I missing something simple?
-
I'm not that familiar with Outlook rules, is there any type of log file that will tell you about errors to the rules? or some type of Junk folder log to indicate why it tripped the junk sensor?
-
I'm assuming you're using Office365 for this email as well?
-
So the junk that is supposed to go in there goes, but some additional stuff keeps going too?
-
@scottalanmiller yes, even stuff that has rules applied.

@ajstringham yepper

I deleted all rules 6 months ago and slowly added them back and I still have the same issue with emails ending up in junk folder when a rule is attached. It's sporadic, like oh I forgot.

I have this happen with my Gmail as well. I'm pretty sure it's because, even if you have a rule that allows all emails from domain.com to come through, it's hitting a spam filter first, and something in that email is causing it to go into the spam filter. It drives me nuts when it happens but I don't think there is any way around it, especially with Office365. Maybe contact support and see if they can permanently whitelist the domains or emails you want, but otherwise, nothing can really be done.

AJ hit the nail on the head. Its going through a spam filter first. You need to add the exception to your spam filter

That can be tricky on Office365, in my experience.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot.

There is another spam filter other than the O365 one?

We're saying it IS the O365 one.
-
Oh I see, no I think that whitelisting (if done on the server) bypasses the O365 spam filter.

It should. Key word being should.

This happens daily, today I looked at the Junk email options and looked at the tab Blocked Senders and found email addresses that shouldn't be blocked.
Weird thing is that telling to trust an email address that you find in the junk folder doesn't trump the email address that is in the Blocked Senders. Good to know.
-
So weird, you click on Not Junk and it asks if you always trust. Bah...that doesn't work.
Reading can be informational!
I have also manually added email addresses to Safe Senders in Oulook's Junk E-mail options.
