Exchange Online ActiveSync Organization Setting Effect
-
Does anyone know if changing the ActiveSync Organization Settings with
Set-ActiveSyncOrganizationSettings
affects existing mobile devices? Such as if you change from the default of allow to quarantine, mailboxes that already have a mobile device associated with it will now find that device quarantined. My hunch says "yes," since the next time that device tries to connect to Exchange Online, it'll be met with the policy change; however, unless I've overlooked something obvious, I can't find anything confirming if this is the behavior that will happen for existing mobile devices.

As I learned during tonight's IT change window, the answer is "yes." If you previous default policy was allow, and you change it to quarantine, devices that had previously been accessing Exchange Online will be quarantined.

Yeah, we did on a deployment of Maas360 and Other MDMs and yes it affects existing devices.

So you have to then manually approve them?

You can create rules that would allow devices and such, but, for right now, On-High wants everything quarantined and then manually approved. So specific to your question: "yes"
