Caffeine takes energy from the future to use now. But there is a cost involved, overhead. So while it can help you stay awake, you have to lose that sleep somewhere else plus the overhead. So overall, using caffeine you have more control over when you are tired but are tired more often.
Well this may be true, but I have had so much caffeine in my system for so long, I am not sure what I would be like without it. High school in the late 80's was about dropping vivarin in a Jolt Cola in the morning. Post high school, the 90's was copious amounts of Mt. Dew. In the 00's i dropped soda from my daily life unless I am out someplace, but started Green Tea and Coffee. Now, I am just Coffee and water.

@scottalanmiller therefore I conclude I need to stay awake tonight and need to post more reply to reach your post @ A.J's post.

@Joyfano I haven't honed down my sleep cycle yet. my sleep cycle is weird. i can sleep 4-5 hours and be fine/miserable. Same with 8-10 hours of sleep... fine/miserable. It's a 50/50. I have what one would call a love/hate relationship with sleep. Ugh.
-
@lamen weird things.
-
@Joyfano Weird indeed.
-
@lamen you know sometimes you want to sleep but you need to do many things. then if you want to sleep you never asleep. Hmmm I tend to drink few drinks in that case.
-
@Joyfano That reminds me, i still have laundry to do, there goes another hour of my sleep!
-
@lamen you should start now.. its pretty late..
So now I am alone again here -
@Joyfano Trust me, i went gun-ho into it. Thing is, my roommate left his laundry in the queue so now i have to wait til his clothes dries off then mine, He works nights and i work days so you can see how our laundry time conflicts.
