            I had a motherboard that fried a couple years ago so I took everything apart just to see how everything fit in. It was fun and I didn't even think about the CPU pins, good advice here.

              I repaired a number of the old style CPU packages, back when the pins were on the CPU rather than the motherboard, with a ruler. Preferably a metal ruler, worked best for getting bent pins back into place. Can't imagine trying the same sort of shenanigans on a modern CPU or motherboard.
