As I continue the leap into making my home smarter, would there by any interest in some tutorials on how to do so? I will be adding more devices and automations to my setup in the coming weeks.

Sure. I am running z-wave with several switches, outlets and locks.

I am interested. I was looking into a few platforms, but without yet having any devices to use, it makes it hard to try them out. So I'm not sure which one is best. I'm thinking Calaos, but openHAB looks nice too.

Here are a few I was considering: (random order)

          • Calos
          • Home Assistant
          • openHAB
          • MisterHouse
          • Domoticz

I'm interested in seeing what others are using and their opinions with pros and cons.

Home assistant has been my go-to, but I am considering to try NodeRed.

I don't have any smart devices yet, but hope to change that over the next year or so. I could use it at work for lights and maybe some SNMP stuff with servers.

@wrx7m I only have one zwave device which is a smart lock.
@Obsolesce I use Home Assistant and love it. Easy to setup and configure. I tried openHAB but couldn't figure it out.
@NerdyDad I've been looking into NodeRed for controllable leds
