ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors, an alternative to LibreOffice, got new tab-based interface
-
ONLYOFFICE has released version 5.1 of their desktop app for editing text documents, spreadsheets and presentations offline. The app is catching up with the online version and getting its new features, including:
- New tabbed toolbar;
- Navigation panel for Table of Contents in the left panel and export to RTF in the text editor;
- 11 new formulas and improved cell formatting in the spreadsheets;
- Special paste and presentation-level comments in the presentations.
The new toolbar is the main update here. What do you think of it?
Download from official website. The suite runs on Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, XP, Vista (x32 and x64), Debian, Ubuntu and RPM-based Linux distributions, Mac OS 10.10 and newer. It is also available as a snap package (for all Linux distributions supporting snapd) and AppImage.

ar;
Navigation panel for Table of Contents in the leftNoice, so this desktop app can it connect to NC server and or cloud files ? I assume this makes it more faster think Outlook OWA vs desktop client.

Now that would be pretty smart if it could.

OnlyOffice does have a NextCloud and OwnCloud plugin. Basically, install the plugin on your server and then put the web address for your OnlyOffice server in it is all that needs done.

@emad-r this app can be connected to ONLYOFFICE cloud (corporate or free personal), or to the self-hosted version so that you can work with your files stored online. It does not work with NC, but thnx for the idea.
However, we have an app to connect ONLYOFFICE server to Nextcloud - https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/onlyoffice-owncloud
