Copying Content from other sources

But the content from that particular source is so hilariously bad.... I guess [they] edited by moderator got tired of the lack of traffic and activity over there, and decided that we were to blame (and not that crappy new layout they tried to push and then went back to what it was before... or the general lack of post quality that they've been suffering from for years now....)

I understand that there are consideration beyond what I am privy to, but it seems peculiar that another site can make a request, but you cannot name them. Not that I think the identity is in doubt, but how can anyone be expected to follow a guideline if it cannot be clearly delineated?
-
So, are we also forbidden to post ML content on "other" sites?
I feel like there should be a flood of ML links onto some particular source, since they are trying desperately to use whatever "power" they feel they have over here.
Obviously, someone besides me will have to take the initiative in implementing this movement.

Has there been a legal request to stop posting content from this other site, or just a direct message? Just curious, not trying to get you into legal trouble or anything.
As a follow up, if we correct the horrible scenarios we see on this website and post it to the "I can't even" thread are we safe from this new rule? IE" I bought this server what do I do with it?" kinds of posts.
Also seems like a big step to ask their content to not be posted here, as I'm certain us posting their crappy content is driving up their website traffic.
On the other hand, we may be crashing their web servers with so many SEO links. .

Wow. This is just sad. Just...wow.

Those who can, do.... those who can't... they depend on lawyers to do it for them.

Does this include Buyer communities?

I agree 100% with this.
The I Cant Even thread has been dumb since day 1. Fairly certain i have 0 posts in that one. If you want to say how wrong someone is go post in the thread they made(you all have user id there) and 'say it to their faces', not on some other site where they have no user id and no way to defend themselves. -
@momurda I would agree with this, except, literally no-one is allowed to confront bad ideas on this other community.
So while I agree, there is no reasonable way to do it, short of creating a post about it here, and telling the OP to go read what true comments are being said about their OP.

We can't post content from other communities, I can see how that could potentially cause copyright stuff... whether it's right or wrong, I certainly don't have the time to deal with that whether I'd win or lose.
But, pasting a web URL, stance on that @Minion-Queen ?

It's likely copyright theft, so instead just paraphrase anything you want to discuss. At least that is what I'm betting this other community is claiming.

@momurda I have, and would again, say it to their faces right on that site, but some of us are on {moderator whose name rhymes with ass}'s permanent moderation list... meaning nothing I post will ever see the light of day (how dare I call out bad vendor behavior!!!!).

Just no posting content copied from there or links to/from there please and thank you.
-
And there we have it folks.
ML can no longer have any references (copied content, web links to/from, etc.) to this other "IT Community". Is that legal? No. But it's a rule here, so if we want to be able to use ML, we have to follow it.

That's not asking too much IMHO. The collective IQ of ML will simply jump.

Remember, if we need to refer to "them", we should use the term "Big Orange". Not to be confused with the president, who will now be referred to as "Big Orange Idiot". I hope this clarifies things for everyone.

No, it's not asking much at all... I just feel bad for the people who will lose out and be maliciously pushed off of technical cliffs.
It's bad for IT folk in general.
Owell.
