Notorious Short-seller labels Ubiquiti Networks $UBNT as FRAUD

I went over Citron report, and what instantly caught my eye was that part about distributor in Poland, supposedly run from the tent. Well, if they bothered to actually ask someone who speaks Polish, they would know the sign is pointing at location 50 meters away. Then if you look at the first picture, or simply go to Google Maps and look it up, you can see there's actual store inside the house. To Americans this might be weird, but this is how huge majority of small businesses operate in Poland, just to trim operational costs.
I'm pretty sure the rest of his claims can be dismissed a bullshit too, if you dig deep enough.

@jaredbusch So the guy writing abut all this is really exaggerating the effect. This does not seem to be that important. Anyone researching and buying Ubiquity products will be aware of their limitations anyway. everything has some sort of limitations. I mean if you cant event notice it on a 50/50 line then how big a deal is this really?

Or just look at the site and you can tell it's not meant for serious readers.

That site definitely looks more like they want to sell me a protein meal replacement powder than networking equipment.

I've never thought that the "Sex sells" adage would ever be applied to networking gear.

I get a kick out of all the attractive young sales women who are always inviting me to lunch or to chat over the phone. No one else has a picture of themselves in their signature.

I also love how she used the Hurricane as a reason to reach out as a sales person.
Because the day after a hurricane hits, you want to reach out to a sales person about buying security software....

@momurda said in Notorious Short-seller labels Ubiquiti Networks $UBNT as FRAUD:
Short sellers typically don't own the stock they are selling.
In finance, short selling (also known as shorting or going short) is the practice of selling securities or other financial instruments that are not currently owned (usually borrowed), and subsequently repurchasing them ("covering"). In the event of an interim price decline, the short seller profits, since the cost of (re)purchase is less than the proceeds received upon the initial (short) sale. Conversely, the short position closes out at a loss if the price of a shorted instrument rises prior to repurchase.
Yes, but you can't remove that part of the market. All investing is investing "against" something. You can't isolate certain types and limit it. Forcing people to only invest in growth and never in shrinkage is a huge problem.
I took out options against Nutanix after IPO because I thought they were overvalued. I made money. Inversely someone thought it was going up and took the opposite position. What exactly is unethical about what I did? It was a business contract between me and the other party in the option.
-
Ahhhh He's claiming Channel Stuffing"
Ubiquiti's financials don't reconcile with its distributors
Anyone who's done corporate ethics training at a vendor will recognize what he's making allegations of (to be fair, EMC did this with VCE by shipping VMAX's across the street at end of quarter to recognize the revenue before they made it to a real customer as VCE was a customer of EMC).
