Amazing Echo Orders From Television Comments

It happened to me a few times. I think it even wanted to order pizza once after 10PM, luckily that requires voice confirmation.
-
mine usually wakes up 3 nights a week while the TV is one, less than once a week it says that she doesn't understand, the other times she just goes back to sleep.

I always get a little worried when a Amazon Echo commercial is on and then my dot lights up...
-
Ours wakes up when the tv is on, mostly she goes back to sleep.

Just been listening to the Radio on the way to work and they were talking about it in general, then 20 minutes later they apologised as people Text'd in saying their Echo's started waking up and answering there questions from the show lol.
-
Was not an order, but a TV commercial where someone tells Alexa to check their calendar just resulted in my echo dot responding that there is no linked calendar.

I wonder how long before they add voice identification. Knowing who is placing orders is pretty important.

There is a voice training that can be done. I have not tried it yet. That may help with recognition.

I wonder if it both makes proper recognition better and improper harder, or just improves recognition of the owner.

If past experience is any indicator, it would improve recognition for close friends, and get worse for me.

I don't think it's about training to a voice, it's more for just better understanding you specifically.

Isn't that two ways of stating the same thing?

huh.. yeah I guess I hear what you are saying - but I more specifically meant to say I don't believe that Amazon is trying to lock onto a specific voice from a specific user, at least not yet. I think the training you provide to the Echo would be applied globally to their entire network of Echos - making you easier to understand at any Echo you talk to in the world, but not with the intent (today) of allowing your echo in your home to only allow purchases from your voice.

Oh, I see. I didn't think that it was doing that, but it might be.
