Linux Installation Issues

You left SecureBoot on and everything? No changes?
No changes at all, I rebooted, tapped esc to get to the boot selection, and booted from my USB.

Ridiculous

OK booting back into Windows, I have some things I have to finish there.

You going to move to Linux on that beast for day to day use?

IDK just yet, I might dual boot it. But i'll have to setup a partition.
If all of my games work on it, then sure. Why not.
-
@scottalanmiller have you done any sort of partitioning on this system yet?

It comes partitioned. What are you actually asking? The drives are clearly not a factor, the kernel is not loaded.

Posting some reference links because I'm leaving the office...

I was asking to see if you had any option for warranty replacement....

I'm not following the logic. What does partitioning have to do with warranty replacement? The hardware is working fine.

Often vendors get cranky when there are changes made, such as partition changes. Because they can't just inspect it and resell it.

So last night I managed to get OpenSuse installed but it was very rough and basically nothing worked. It only worked live, but not on an install.
Got Ubuntu 16.04.1 running live late last night and it ran great. Really great. Did an install and that seemed to go well, but it could not boot afterwards. So tackling that now.
-
Posting from my Ubuntu 16.04.1 laptop!
-
So far, it is SWEET.

What ended up being the issue?

OS. Switched to Ubuntu 16.04.1 did the trick. Mint had no hope at all. OpenSuse got most of the way there, but lacked driver support.
-
That sucks, had that happen with a mint install as well. It would install but the provided wireless driver had some weird bugs so wireless wouldn't work.

This was nowhere close. Mint couldn't even remotely try to boot. Ubuntu.... just worked. All it needed was...
nouveau.modeset=0

Hopefully they get it fixed
