MS Office 365 Video
-
Today, we are excited to announce Office 365 Video, the first of many NextGen Portals landing in Office 365. Initially, we will roll out to Office 365 First Release customers. We then expect to be fully deployed worldwide to all Office 365 customers by early calendar year 2015.
That was the release announcement from November 18th, 2014... so it has been around but might be pretty new for some of us.

And here is the announcement from April of the World Wide rollout..

I've enabled it and tried to use it but thus far it can't process even a ten second iPhone video. It just stops uploading and does nothing. Not very impressive.

Hey Scott. I'm from Microsoft. I work on the O365 Video team.
What exactly happens after you upload? After it finishes it should redirect to the player page and say that it's processing the video. We transcode the videos which takes several minutes. But when done it does adaptive steaming to any device.
Was this in the desktop or directly from your iPhone?
Upload on ios doesn't work in the browser yet, but does work from our iPhone app.
Upload from Android does work in browser.
Would love to help if there are issues, so you give it a fair chance.

@coliver need the E or A sku for O365 to see it in the top nav.
-
@Marc, does this work on Windows Phone 8.1?
-
@Dashrender yeah should. You see any issues?

Trying from the iPhone app directly off of the phone. Only about a ten second video.
I choose the video, it compresses, I add a title and hit "Upload".....
It never uploads. It always shows two videos uploading instead of one (very confusing, seems like something is wrong there) and the video never actually uploads. The site just says "processing" for forever which is confusing as the issue is that it didn't upload, not that it is processing at all.
-
@scottalanmiller let me go try from my wife's iPhone. Upload should work but haven't tested it in a while.

Thanks for popping in to help out!

It always stops around 53% and just says "Upload Error" in the iPhone app. It's only a ten second vid and uploads to YouTube work all of the time from the same device and same network.
-
Here is what the web page shows when the upload fails. This is a very misleading message given that the video hasn't uploaded and is no longer trying.
-
Made a new three second video to see how this changes the process.
-
This time it went to 100%, now it says that it is processing.
-
Trying a 10sec video myself from app now too.
-
Mine finished and now says processing. Sorry you are seeing that weirdness. Not sure what it could be. Try a different clip?
-
what is the name of the app on Windows phone? I don't see it, perhaps it's not enabled on my O365 account? or I don't know where to look?

Tried a different clip and being super short (3 seconds) uploaded completely differently. Waiting to see if the processing completes. So far, it has not.
-
@Dashrender sorry no win phone app. Login via browser. We have responsive pages so they look good on mobile.
-
Three second clip appears to have finished processing. Waiting for it to load here (Central America.)
Took a new fifteen second video in the app itself to see if that can upload. The taking, processing and uploading is all quite different when done through the app itself.
