Using "Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Inside Out" as a MCSE study guide......
-
I'm getting my book today after work and plan on going through it to study for the 70-410 exam, which would be my first MS exam ever. I've put it off too long and it's just something I need to do as I feel like I've lost relevance without it.
So, my question is has anyone used this book or have a suggestion on how to effectively study / prepare? TBH, I'm on a shoestring budget, don't really have enough equipment to really have a good home lab (yet) but I do have a computer with 2012 R2 installed and running at home. Everything else I try to sneak in at work on my workstation using VirtualBox (HP z420 workstation, very nice ). I'm more interested in hearing from those who have passed it or any 2012 exam and what they thought of it.

@Bill-Kindle that's a good book for learning but definitely get the MSPress curriculum book too. Different approaches and depth.

@scottalanmiller Is that the exam ref or the actual book? I've been a little hesitant to purchase it because I wasn't sure which one was actually a good book. I'm also trying to use pluralsight now too.

I'll track down the book link.

@bill-kindle Go for it!

@scottalanmiller Cool thanks! Bookmarking those now.

Just bought the Kindle edition for 70-410 R2, working on some reading now.

I subscribe to that site's daily deals. It's pretty awesome.

I just passed 70-410 a little over a week ago. I used KnowledgeNet for training because my employer paid for it. I liked it alot.

Bill there was R2 Questions on my exam, but none of them were related to any new R2 features. I am not sure when they are going to change the exam.
-
Were they very long questions or pretty pointed? I've been looking for a decent practice engine but can't seem to find the Transcender or similar ones. The ones on Play look suspect.
-
@Bill-Kindle They are long convoluted typical MS Questions, but The material is fairly simple.
I used Visual Cert Exam for testing. I think I paid like $20 for it 10 years ago
