VMware App Volumes is a part of VMware Horizon‘s Apps on Demand feature, which allows delivering apps to virtual desktops on demand. Instead of mounting VMDK with apps, dynamic mounting of the volumes starts only when you use an application. Now, Apps on Demand for published app environments extends this functionality to the apps published by Horizon Apps, Citrix Virtual Apps, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH)/terminal.
