Excel 2013 Crashes On Exit But No Pattern
-
I may be one of the few (and not so proud) VBA developers (still learning) and I've got an interesting problem. And I do realize when it comes to VBA, it is really hard for an outsider to troubleshoot because it is so custom.
Basically, we have a spreadsheet that is basically a viewer of another master sheet that a VP doesn't want touched. They go into this sheet, update it with a Macro and then show jobs by their initials. It goes out to the master sheet and pulls in data by their initials. With a handful of initials, on closing out the sheet, Excel will do a HARD CRASH, try to recover and start again for 1-2 minutes. It always fails and they just close and re-open. The workaround is to hit the clear button or save a copy of this viewer somewhere and it will not crash.
Again, it only happens on certain initials and sometimes, it doesn't happen to them at all. I've tried looking at sheets when they didn't crash and when they did and nothing sticks out. I was starting to think of the macro needs to be "cleared or flushed" or something. But it doesn't explain why it doesn't happen to some and why just Excel 2013. Excel 2010 users do not have this problem, no matter the initials used.
Any kind of clue?
