I have seen this twice and I just had to use a third party PDF printer, couldn't get the Microsoft one to work again. Both machines where on the latest Windows 10 version when it happened, so maybe a version update could bring it back.

Interesting - I have honestly never seen/heard that before.
quite the opposite - for example, my EHR "requires" Adobe Reader - and as such when someone doesn't have it, certain other people freak the hell out because they have no idea that it doesn't matter. This of course is perpetuated by the EHR vendor themselves who claim they only support systems with Adobe Reader, not other PDF viewers -

Well, in their defense, Windows 7 didn't have a built in PDF viewer when we went live with this EHR - so there was no built in. Also, back then IE was the preferred browser.
But that said - they still haven't updated their requirements. I'm sure they do that so they only have to deal with one PDF viewer for support purposes, but still - definitely sucks.!

How is that in their defense? That makes them even crazier if they are applying something unrelated - not trusting something that they haven't tried or even know exists. That means that there is NO reason for it, let alone a good one.

As if a pdf created by Microsoft is better than one created by another PDF creator. I'd show them 2 PDF's and see if they can tell which one was made by Microsoft.

As if a pdf created by Microsoft is better than one created by another PDF creator. I'd show them 2 PDF's and see if they can tell which one was made by Microsoft.

Foxit has always been a good one for the print to pdf, at least back when Win7 was standard. But Foxit was the goto pdf viewer for basic features, or pro when they needed more.

Sadly latest version of Foxit free (10) got rid of their PDF printer, so Its win10 or Adobe now (haven't checked other PDF utilities)
