Is Windows 10 Enterprise included in Office 365 E3?
-
Hello everyone!
We've got some workstations with both Windows 10 Enterprise and Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3 licenses.
I see that the E3 flavour of M365 contains the windows 10 enterprise license itself (https://www.microsoft.com/en-GB/microsoft-365/compare-all-microsoft-365-plans).
It's actually pretty confusing, but the question is: can I get rid of the Windows Enterprise license (that we renew each year) and use the one included in M365?Thank you very much

I am not sure on Office 365/Windows 10 Enterprise, but that link you included is interesting.
I think I remember something along the lines of if you have many machines with Windows 10 Professional OEM that you can re-image them with Windows 10 Enterprise if you have 1 Windows 10 Enterprise License with SA within Volume Licensing (not sure on the details though).
Pretty sure others on the forum will be able to help with that...

It's important to note that Microsoft 365 E3 is not the same as Office 365 E3 - they are completely separate products.
M365 E3 includes all the features of O365 E3, plus the OS (Win10 Enterprise), AAD premium, InTune and some additional security features.
O365 E3 is £17.60 pu/pm and M365 E3 is £28.10 pu/pm
If you've only got O365 E3, then no, you still need the separate OS license.
If you've got M365 E3, then I can't see why you couldn't get rid of the annual Win 10 Enterprise license. But as with all things relating to MS licensing, I'd advise you speak to your reseller! -

Close - if you have an open license agreement for Windows 10 Pro, you can use that same media to make images for machines simply licensed with Windows 10 Pro OEM, but you can't use the Enterprise version - because that's a different version of windows. they must match - Windows 10 Pro OEM compared to Windows 10 Pro OV - but not Windows 10 pro OEM compared to Windows 10 Enterprise

that is incorrect. You are mixing imaging rights with enterprise upgrade rights. Under no circumstances is Enterprise a "buy one, get many" product.

No, it is not.

And then be wary, as they seem to get it wrong more often than not and all risk is assumed by the buyer, not the adviser.

Well, that's not intentionally confusing at all.
