Issue with XenServer Node
-
@Mike-Ralston This is Scott we are talking about.
-
@PSX_Defector True... I'll get to it if I do. @scottalanmiller This is the same issue we were having last night. It's hooked up, but not working. It displays as being connected, but not properly so. The machine is on, it's at the correct IP, the credentials were entered correctly.

Are you sure? Because it is not responding to pings.
-
@scottalanmiller in the server itself right now, yes.

But can it see the network? The node that works responds on the network, the node that doesn't work does not respond on the network. Maybe the cable is having an issue?
-
Didn't do something stupid like VLAN the port it's on right?
-
What criteria are you using to determine that it is online and healthy on the network?
How are you determining the status? -
There is no ARP table entry for it.
-
@scottalanmiller They worked fine, then @art_of_shred played with he network a bunch. No idea what happened. And no, there was no VLAN tampering.
-
Okay, well the current status is that that node is not on the network. Have you looked at the cables to see if they are correct?
-
@scottalanmiller Of course It's on, and plugged in.
-
Can that node ping anything else, like the gateway?

@scottalanmiller Are you crazy? It's Saturday.
Worked til 4am last night, been at it since 10 am this morning.......i feel ya scott
-
@scottalanmiller How do I ping something from it? It's not a command prompt.

Should be a way, you are looking at Linux attached to the console.
Have you tried basic things like switching the cable to a different port on the switch?
-
Did you try rebooting? You needed to reboot while working on the BIOS update to enable virtualization anyway.
-
@scottalanmiller I'll reboot it again: I did try that.
-
Didn't work. What all have you tested thus far? What lights are on on the switch, has the port been switched? Have you switched the port on the server itself? It's very hard to assist when I only get partial information.
-
The server has been rebooted twice. The cable was switched from eth port 1 to 2, and the other end at the switch was removed and reseated. Still not reachable by ping from my computer on the network. I'll try another switch port, but I don't think that's it.
-
Different port on the switch, still no reply.
