I can guarantee most of the schools south of the Mason-Dixon line don't. Those schools are worse off than NY schools.

Actually, no. That's exactly where they are doing it. That's where the push to improve the schools has happened so much. NY has fallen and is now one of the worst education systems in the nation. By and large the south is blowing it away. Texas, traditionally a sink hole of education, is now so far outpacing NY it isn't funny. NY was great in education once, those days are past. They aren't even trying anymore.

The main place that the South still lacks in in things like special education. Even if they've gotten better overall, the South has never had good special education programs, which is why my family stayed in NY, among other reasons, after my brother was diagnosed as autistic.

That was a long time ago. I think you'll find that the south seriously outpaces NY in that area too, in the last six or seven years. The switch in education lead was dramatic and rapid. The south decided to fix its problems, Texas especially (not true south), and NY collapsed at the same time.

Anytime you see anything about a profession you are in on TV or the movies, they generally get it all wrong.

In each profession there's generally one movie that everyone loves because it is the only one to get things right. Backdraft for firefighters, Scrubs for doctors, etc.

Scrubs is actually accurate?? I find that hysterical!

What good timing, in the same week that I mention how I've been disappointed with the bothering to fact check things for shows like Two and a Half Men and Big Bang Theory this shows up on 9Gag...

Now to be fair, he only says that he is the scientific adviser and BBT doesn't do that so badly. It's the tech that they mess up so badly. I stopped watching after the first season, not sure I made it that far, but remember it being pretty poor.

Well it's probably a good thing that I don't actually watch TV shows like this for their educational purposes. 😉 I'd say most people don't care- they just want a good laugh and to be entertained.

But it makes it not funny because they messed up the joke. How entertaining is any joke if you get the punch lines wrong? It's not just a technical failure, the writing itself failed.

Part of this is that you Aspie's see things so differently than the rest of the world and have a hard time imagining anything outside of your world. I live with 2 of them I know believe me. I can ignore inaccuracies and just enjoy something for the pure fun of what it was intended to be not what was said.

The thing that is worst is when movies are not self consistent. What that means is that the only people who "enjoy" them are the ones who didn't actually pay attention.

I think it's exciting that IT has reached this level of popularity in society!

You don't (often) hear of physicists being unable to enjoy the ABUNDANCE of silly things in action movies etc.
