TurnkeyInternet VPS / Dedicated Server Deal worth it?
-
Looks like I may be going with https://turnkeyinternet.net/.
They have some awesome deals, and I can't find anything better.
I can't decide between a dedicated server for $15/mo., or VPS "cloud server" for $20/mo.
I didn't order yet, still 2 days left.
Any good reasons to choose dedicated over VPS? I think with the dedicated, there's no drive protection (single SSD), but I'm not sure how that works.
Help me decide, opinions / findings on turnkeyinternet.net welcome as well.

I don't really like bare metal, slow reboots I just can't stand them. That may be enough reason by itself to go with a VPS... but then there's shared resources...
It's hard to decide.

I just noticed that the dedicated is NOT an SSD, but you can have
CPU & Memory: Dual E5504 2.00 Ghz, 2x QuadCore, VT/HT [16 GB RAM]
instead still for $20/mo.I don't that the non-SSD would mater a ton, but the fact it's the only drive in the system would worry me.
It looks like the VPS is the better deal, even though resources are about half.

To compare with Vultr:
Vultr VPS:
- $20/mo. (no discounts)
- 2 CPU
- 4 GB RAM
- 60 GB SSD
- 3 TB Bandwidth
- Custom ISO
TurnkeyInternet VPS:
- $18/mo. (paying 1 year up-front (includes additional 10% discount))
- 8 CPU
- 8 GB RAM
- 80 GB SSD
- Unmetered Bandwidth
- Custom ISO

I'm going to give TurnkeyInternet VPS a try. Anyone have it and want me to put you in the "Referred by" area?
-
Sounds like you'll be taking one for the team and reporting back.

Well, I did it (doing the $20 monthly in case I change my mind after the 30-day money back guarantee):

Yup, I definitely will. And I also have GCP to compare it to in real-time

I've gotten Fedora 26 installed and cockpit running. So far everything seems good, responsive, etc.
The only snag I've ran into so far is that there is no way to take snapshots, which is weird because that's a built-in feature of KVM. They take weekly backups, but that's not the same thing at all.
I suppose that I can always do my own file level backups and download the tar.gz files.
Over the next couple days I hope to get some good performance comparisons to GCP.

I'm going to give it a good few weeks before deciding where I stand, whether or not it's worth downgrading resources to go with Vultr. I just wish I could trial them all at the same time.

I can't comment on that yet. I've only had it for a day. But I have unlimited bandwidth and it's not a reseller account. So far no down time that I noticed.
I've contacted support a few times already, though, with getting my ISO uploaded. Support seemed very helpful and responsive in my experience. This was after I paid.
