MS SQL Server 2008 Database Connection
-
So if I understand correctly, you are saying 5 out of 6 computers can connect to your database. I'd start by checking the logs on your main SQL server to see if there may be some kind of authentication errors.
-
@networknerd 5units can connect to the database and the other 1unit cannot connect
@scottalanmiller our leader @pol-darreljade done it already and still cant connect -
I already checked the firewall ports exemptions,I used the default 1433 for TCP Protocol. And also, network connectivity from that PC to the server both can see each other, the confusing part is, other computer can connect to the server, and the one that cannot was able to ping the server.
I'm not yet sure if there was any new software install because we are not the one using the computer. -
@pol.darreljade Hello Sir Darrel. Where are you Today?
-
@Joyfano Here at Makati, Philippines! Hahaha
-
Something having to do with the AntiVirus is the most likely.

Nah.. We've been using MS Essential for year so I think it's not the issue. By the way, last week, we migrated from cables to wireless. I think our new router is blocking the connection or maybe the wireless adapter is damaged or something.

That could easily do it. You are using a wireless router instead of an access point? Why wireless for a database connection?
-
@scottalanmiller but other can connect to database.
It's the decision of our Boss to convert to wireless so we can't argue about that haha! -
@pol.darreljade Sir, are you using those computer from IT1?

No, this one is from here. Used by the Biller Team.

@pol.darreljade ok thanks. I guess those computer is also from IT1 long time ago. We also had an experience before connecting in Database server. Kindly check the firewall if I'm not mistaken I used to blocked ports before.
Hahahah Sorry but I do that 2 years ago -

Very [moderated] unlikely.
This isn't Windows NT. AV has moved from being this crazy low level component to a much more nicely playing utility. We get [moderated] all the time demanding to turn off McAfee on our servers for DB issues, we can easily point out that it has nothing to do with it. Last one turned out to be a strange NIC TCP offload issue.

Can the broken box hit the SQL instance via telnet? Can you make an ODBC connection to it? Does your application need an ODBC connection?
