Zimbra Finally Showing Off a New GUI
-
Long ago, Zimbra was the big name in web GUIs for email systems. Their claim to fame was their GUI and AJAX support. Probably no one more than Flickr and Zimbra pushed the asynchronous, AJAXian Web 2.0 experience. It was the strength of Zimbra's web GUI that got eWeek to declare that the Zimbra web GUI had advanced past the Outlook fat client in experience more than a decade go.
But sadly, since that time the Zimbra GUI has stagnated, probably due to a string of acquisitions, and today it stands little changed from its 2007 self. That appears to be about to change as Zimbra has released its new GUI into beta for the world to see.

8.6 is already a bit behind. Those of us on 8.7 have had many updates already, and one more this week.

There are instructions on the link on how to get the beta to test. I would update to the current version before looking into that, though.

The new interface looks so much better than the current one. Glad they are working on it.

Definitely a huge improvement.

The first time I tested Zimbra I loved it more than MS Exchange and wanted to use their web client to kill MS Outlook at our company. I'm excited to see they are dedicated to improving the product.

And they are Buffalo based now, too.
