Hidden Costs in Hyperconverged Infrastructure

So I stumbled on this and have to say, this is garbage. Talk about fear mongering. The entire post is how your platform of choice might not be free, but they present it as if it is something about hyperconvergence. Oh no, you might have to pay for VMware. Sure, you might, if you have a VMware-based system. But this seems a ridiculous thing to point out.
The thread might as well be "the hidden costs of business". Did you know that when you want more, you sometimes have to pay for it.
None of this is about hyperconvergence, it all applies equally (or moreso) to things that are not hyperconverged. And none of it applies to any hyperconverged platform that I know of anyone seriously considering. If this had been the "pretty obvious caveats of Nutanix", sure, I'd buy that. None of this is hidden, none of it is intrinsic or even normal in hyperconvergence.

How do all of those not also affect a traditional infrastructure?
The only one that has some merit, some being a very key word there, is the networking argument. Each individual node is going to cost slightly more depending on what type of networking the implementation requires.

But no extra ports are needed.
Example....
3 Hosts HC Backplane: 2 Ports per host, total 6 ports
3 Hosts SAN: 2 Ports per host, total 8 ports20 Hosts HC Backplane: 2 Ports per host. total 40 ports
20 Hosts SAN: 2 ports per host, total 42 ports.The bigger you get the less the extra SAN ports matter, but they are always extra.
