Anyone use Synology MailPlus server (Email Server Search Continues...)

@bigbear The best solution might be to check out the top rated service providers on Spiceworks (sorry MangoLassie !). It's generally a good indicator of what you can expect from a service provider. Good hunting!

Honestly I dont know why anyone would host their own email anymore
Canadian data security laws here - it's a right proper pain in the backside. We are not exchange experts!

@MattSpeller what are Canadian laws like for email?

We use Mimecast for our filtering needs. Works with on prem and o365, though we are still on prem right now.

They don't care about the format, only what's in it. In our case, personally identifiable information (PII) - health data basically, height, weight etc.
PII must be stored in Canada - no exceptions.
This would be a lot easier if Google / Microsoft / anyone (omfg) had storage in Canada that complied with this (no external replication to USA etc).
Microsoft is starting one in Canada for this reason but they've yet to make it so that data can be isolated to Canada only.

@MattSpeller @bigbear So basically you need to know what your customers want + what they might need. Then juggle the logistics of like HIPPA etc. Again it comes down to industry and what a specific customer might need.

In my SW post I said I did not use it but the reason keeping me from using it was because the backup/restore of the Synology email system did not seem easy to configure and reliable to maintain. That being said I usually use Zimbra as my opensource email system to go.

One thing to note about the Synology email system, while it looks like it is pretty decent, it is not free past five users.

The Synology email server does look like it is moderately nice. If you have a good service, like The Email Laundry, handling your external connections, running your email server internally isn't so bad. I have no experience with the Synology for email handling, but it looks like it might work just fine.
