New Review on ThanksAJ.com - Pertino

I should add that I also have used it and still do.

A.J. I'm not trying to be mean but why are you constantly plugging your website here instead of just posting your review on ML. It kind of defeats the purpose of the review section. I fully understand that your site is new but can you find a different way of plugging your site? To me its unprofessional to go on a site and say hey go to mine, i have all of these reviews and so on.

I am still an active and contributing member on the site. I can understand where you're coming from but also ask: where else will I get any level of exposure? Scott does it often with SMB IT Journal. I've done it to simply help get my site exposure but I'm still helping on other threads, posting on other topics. If all I did was put plugs in and nothing else, I'd have a problem with me. I feel I've earned some leeway on this, as opposed to the other place that freaks out over everything.

@ajstringham As an active member as well if i had my own site i would just randomly plug it with new entries to the site. That is what an RSS feed is for, so those who want to keep up to date on new material can. Unless I haven't seen it/paid attention to it, SAM only plugs his site when its relevant to the conversation (at least that is what i have seen on SW). I am not opposed to someone plugging their site but there has to be some context to it and not just plugging it to get page views. Like I said what you are doing defeats the purpose of the review section here on ML. I personally don't think its professional to do this, but that is just me and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Isn't this kind of thing exactly what the 'Self-promotion' section of ML is about though @david.wiese , to promote yourself?
-
@Carnival-Boy yes but this is in the WC.

I put it in the wrong group then. Sorry about that.

Plugging his writing is fine. There is even a self promotion category just for that. A review in the water closet isn't the best taxonomy but I feel that that is all.

@david.wiese I generally do post a thread to announce a new article. I don't have them that often and often they are based on something that recently happened so it feels a bit different from that respect I think. But it seems to be useful and I mostly get good feedback from it.

Most of what I link is conversational reference though. So that is true.
One of the reasons that I put the article announcement here, though, is because I then use it with the intent of the discussion of the topic being here, not there (to drive conversation here) and so that social media sharing like Facebook links here to drive traffic here rather than to the article directly giving us better exposure and more conversation.

Thanks Scott.
