Self Promoting - But, Old.

Just Bragging. These are old FBLA awards. It's basically like the CompTIA A+ but much harder than the A+. Also instead of there being a passing score, its having the highest score, top 5 place at regionals, and states competitions. Top 2 place when you get to internationals. There is a different test for each level (regional, state, and internationals) and each progressively get harder, It was timed and you weren't allowed to bring anything nor were we given what material to study or anything (I didn't study at all anyway). I placed 2nd place for regionals, and 4th for the state, I didn't place in the top 2 for internationals sadly, though I did get to go on a free trip to try to place because of my placement at the state levels.

Very interesting, have never seen that before. Congrats.

Never seen that before. Well done! What level is it for? High school or is that a professional competition?

It was my freshmen year of college from Phi Beta Lambda. Too bad there were no money award for that category. No businesses sponsored the computer part. Banks sponsored the Finance and business competitions with quite a few cash awards (several thousand if you placed at all). I guess they were making it like real world IT - you get forgot about unless there is a problem lol.

Nope, they are allowed to of course. But ads are purely optional. The self promotion group is here so that vendors big and small and even open source vendors with absolutely zero budget can get the word out. Of course only in self promotion so that it is clear that it is a free "ad" of some sort and no spam. Ads are different and run on the side or bottom and are not free, but also not a requirement.
Part of the mission of MangoLassi / RepublicOfIT is to guarantee open access to vendors without having to pay to play. The requirement of paying to participate so that only large vendors willing to invest in a platform would get a voice to end users or customers was specifically one of the problems we saw in other communities and were adamant about avoiding.
