Project Management solution
-
I have been tasked with finding a project management solution and would like to know your recommendations.
We already have a cloud based file server, virtual data rooms to share data with 3rd parties and 3rd parties share similar services with our employees, sending out emails with documents back and forth, making phone calls etc. However, end of the day information will be spread across on various platform and making it hard to track changes, and hence the entire approval process.
Based on the initial discussions with relevant managers, we found the following solutions worth checking.

Jira is pretty complex but very popular. You can do pretty much anything with it.

What are the main features you are looking for? Do you want self hosted, any specific budget for this? How many users are you planning to support?
We've evaluated tons of PM toolset for ours use after we decided to stop the development process of our own in house product. Budget was also an issue and now using self hosted ActiveCollab. Used by multiple offices, vendors, clients etc.
https://activecollab.com/A recent update introduced add-on for Google drive, Dropbox etc to use files from there to be shared in the PM tool.

Not sure if it would be helpful, but here is a discussion from a while back...

There are so many really great project management tools out there right now that I think you just have to look at which ones best meet your specific needs. Many of them are free for a limited number of users, or offer free trials, so you can easily take them for a test drive. I tried several before settling on Trello, but everyone's requirements are different, so it's hard to recommend a specific solution.
I'd just make sure you go for a well established and popular solution. There's no point picking a cool solution only to find that it shuts down six months after you start using it (along with all your data if it is cloud based).
Really, I'm just happy to be alive in a post-Microsoft-Project world.

Thanks everyone!
@Ambarishrh: It is hard to predict the number of users. Main purpose of this platform is to share and negotiate deals with our contractors, sub-contractors, external firms like banks, lawyers, insurance, equity, advisory boards etc. To backup a little bit, we are into developing wind and solar farms and a lot of 3rd parties are involved throughout the span of the project.

If i understood this correctly, does it mean that you basically looking for a file sharing platform with a messaging option attached to it?

RocketChat also seems to be nice.
