It's about being able to recreate history. Help to keep from losing perspective. Provide something to the next generation.

See dad, you lied, you didn't walk to school both ways uphill in the snow 😛

So, what about something where you can manage your online history? I mean obviously you cannot remove anything technically, but for most average people it's quite possible to edit/remove old forum posts, accounts, etc.

Honestly I'm sure there's registrations for all sorts of things I haven't used in years across my emails that I'd like to peek at.

        (In brainstorming mode.)

That's a lot more complex. Making a social media management meta application would be tons of work compared to collecting and displaying the data.

Sounds like a pretty interesting idea to me. I could see it being really interesting to look back and see what you have done and when. I use that feature in Foursquare sometimes and it is really interesting and that is a lot more limited.

My thought process was that I might see something and think "You know, that Myspace comment from 2004 shouldn't exist." and it'd be nice to have a little trashcan icon to take care of it.

Maybe. It's a neat idea. But would get really complicated really quickly and will confuse people when some sites retain that data anyway.

@scottalanmiller That's a good point, I should distinguish between features I would enjoy/understand and ones that are hypothetically possible to actually make it to production-playback-machine. Which, is already in pretty hypothetical territory. 😛

Yeah. Pretty hypothetical. I think a basic playback history machine is enough for now. Being an aggregator is one thing. Being a "manage your life" thing is another.

Plus, I'm sure there's already a few thousand "manage your online presence" click-baits taking up that niche haha.

                        True. Security is very pop.
