Anyone seen this? Microsoft released a new client for Skype for Linux. It's based on WebRTC (like Firefox Hello) and is just in alpha so basically doesn't work yet, but is out there in RPM and DEB formats for people to start playing with.

And they've extended their web functionality too, so Chrome and Chromebooks can use the web version of Skype.

Nice! I'm very happy to see them getting back to this after so long. Checking out the Alpha now on Linux Mint to see how it works.

It is encouraging. I hope that they get this past alpha soon.

Been talking to @gjacobse on the new Skype client. So far so good. It looks and feels just like the Windows client, so that is a good sign. No issues yet, but it is early.

Testing this and just had my first case of it totally crashing out on me. Just stopped getting messages but stayed open without any indication that something was wrong. Had to reboot as it could not be shut down.
