MangoCon 2016 - Hotel is NOT Fully Booked Yet
-
The hotel's website is having issues, they do know and I am waiting on them to fix it. However if you want to give them a call to reserve your room here is the information you need.
The conference and the hotel rooms are at:
Holiday Inn, 70 State St, Rochester, NY 14614
Phone: 585-245-3492
Reservation Code: GRS
-
Definitely stay there, the conference is in the same building. It will be a far better experience if you are in the same place. The conference is going to ensure that there is plenty to do and drink without needing to leave the conference center.
-
It's also inside the inner loop. So you are in walking distance to a lot of great restaurants and attractions.
-
What's the rate for this hotel?
-
Rate is $119/night

Way better. NY is expensive for hotels, this is a very good deal. I stayed at a random middle of nowhere Hampton Inn a few nights ago on a HHonors discount and everything and it was more than that.

It's a very direct shuttle.

So where might I find the best airfare deals to this shindig? All the options I've checked are a bit pricey, but I may just have to suck it up and pay... unless anyone here has some great, hidden, cut rate plane ticket connection.

All options pretty much suck... NY is really expensive to fly in to and out of.
-
We actually have a kick butt finding awesome prices for flights guru around here @Dominica where are you?

I was hoping someone knew a secret combo of flights that would be cheap. I can get to chicago for pennies, but any flights to NY are spendy, non stop or otherwise.

JetBlue is generally pretty good. Flying into Rochester is super convenient, only 10 minutes from the conference. Flying into Buffalo or Syracuse is an hour or longer drive, but very feasible. Flying into Albany would be a huge pain in the butt and flying into NYC would be farther away than flying into Cleveland, but could be done.
Any of these cities: Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo, Syracuse, Utica, Albany, Poughkeepsie, New York City (JFK, La Guardia) or Newark sit on the Amtrak line and you can get to Rochester via the train. If you are coming from farther than Albany this will turn into a ridiculously long train ride. From Utica or closer (which includes Syracuse, Buffalo and Depew) the train is very easy.
The conference is very close to the train station in Rochester.

I know someone that just got Rochester to LA for $99 round trip.

You should post a thread on flight discussions and maybe people can mention cities and get deals listed there for others to find.

And we can arrange for pick up of people if they choose this option as well.
