New Scale HC3 Tiered Cluster Up in the Lab
-
The NTG Lab's new Scale HC3 HC2150 SSD cluster has been added to the existing HC3 HC2100 cluster. They got this done last night and it is patched up to the very, very latest firmware. This is the fastest spinning Winchester array of its type (the super new HC2100) and the "not yet released" insanely powerful HC2150 SSD tiered cluster (which has double the RAM of the HC2100 as well!!) So not only do we have double the CPU and nodes, the new CPUs are slightly faster, the memory is bigger and... tiered SSD!!! So we now have the two clustered tied together in a single tiered cluster. So excited.
We now have 576GB of RAM in this single cluster!

I want one!
What we talking in ££££? -
Who doesn't want one, this thing is awesome. Hope to have lots of stuff posted about it later on today. It just got set up last night so I have not gotten to play with it at all yet. Getting OpenIndiana 16.04 downloaded right now for testing. Going to set up a fresh, vanilla CentOS 7 later and grab a new ServerBear off of the system, too, now that it has more capacity.

I don't know what the price is going to be in Sterling. I'll ping someone to see if they can join in here to discuss.

Speaking from Experience, even their Winchester systems are great! For those who don't know, we have a 4-node cluster at my last job... They expanded it to 5 not too long ago.

What we talking in ££££?Roughly £18000 to start with for 3x
So 6K per Scaleway node?
-
@Breffni-Potter that's the US pricing for the HC1000. That's a bit smaller than the HC2000. And our Winchester system is the more powerful HC2100 and the new cluster is the super powerful HC2150. Each type has a different per node price. But the general pricing model is the same (flat per mode price with a three mode minimum.)

@hobbit666 the new 3 node 2150x starter cluster lists at 47k Sterling - be happy to chat it through with you if you like and show you one via webex
-
The setup on the HC2150 that we have is 12x 6TB SAS and 3x 400GB SSD. It's tiered, not cached.
-
We have ServerBear numbers on the cluster about to go up as well. Sorry that this thread disappeared fora little bit. The new product was just officially announced today so we had to suppress the news on our cluster until it hit the market

We are very excited to get to announce this today.

Right now nope I would but don't think I would get the budget at the moment lol.
When we come to renew then i'll be in touch. but good to know a base price. What spec would that 3x 2150 cluster give. Just I know if asked -
