Get a doctor's note saying you have a problem with skin irritation and ingrown hairs if you have to shave.
This is what a lot of my military friends are doing, although they do actually get serious skin irritation if they shave.

I do too.. I haven't shaved since October..
But I've had IT jobs in the past where I had to. My face always stayed red from the irritation.

I'm the opposite if my beard grows too long I start to get irritation. The longest I've got without a shave was 3 months... it was pure torture toward the end.

I trim my beard down, but VERY rarely go clean shaven as I look about 15 afterwards...using an old school safety razor has reduced the inflammation etc I used to get though...

My wife bought me a butterfly razor two years ago for Christmas. Best shave I've ever had.

I collect them! Best shave you can get, and incredibly cheap for blades. Treat yourself to a blade sample pack and find one that shaves best for you! I like the Feather blades - first shave is too close (remember to adjust the height dial!), second and third are perfect. The other one I enjoy is the Lord Platinum - two perfect shaves, then toss.

I've been using shark blades. I get 4 or 5 good shaves per blade. I'm actually on my last one need to get some new ones.
-
@coliver I didn't enjoy those at all but that's why the sample pack is awesome!
I wouldn't recommend going more than 3 shaves unless you shave daily. The blades rust and lose their edge very quickly.

I shave once a week on average. They do lose their edge really quickly. The last shave is always pretty rough.
-
@MattSpeller I only shave once a week, so I just throw a new blade on every time since they are so cheap.
-
@coliver I'd use a fresh blade every time then.

I probably should. My wife got me a 20 pack of the shark blades and I wanted to make them last.

$0.10/blade - treat yourself

I'll try that sampler pack first. Maybe I'll find one I like better.

@MattSpeller What is this height dial that you speak of? I haven't found anything like that on mine.
-
@coliver Be super careful with the Feather's - they're just obscenely sharp haha

Oh! Two types of safety razor - fixed and adjustable. With fixed (as you have I guess) the sample pack is critically important.
Adjustable lets you set how aggressive the blade is and a little bit of the angle at which it meets your face.
If you like your fixed head, keep it! I collect them and have quite the assortment.
Highly recommend if you're interested (AWESOME quality, last forever, give it to your grand children kinda item)

You can't eventually ascend and evolve to your higher form if you don't have a respectable beard. I mean, what the hell!? Do they think greybeards come out of the womb that way?!
