Why would you go for anything but the highest currently available one?

Windows 2012 has been out for over two years I'd definitely go with that one.

2012 . Start with the 70-410 exam and then 411, 412. That should get you an MCSA.

Definitely 2012. Always use the latest for certs. It takes time to get certified and time to put the knowledge to use. You want current knowledge not outdated knowledge. The newer it is the longer it will be valuable for you.

PluralSight is a really great resource too. Not free but at $30/mo USD for thousands of training videos it can be quite an amazing resource.

Technet is loaded with resources too. All free, just not in a book form. So harder to organize.

@scottalanmiller, is PluralSight better of CBT Nugget?

Both are good. I think PS is way cheaper and growing very quickly.

Yes, I've tried both. PS is cheaper but the video instructional quality is about the same. MVA also has some surprisingly good video tutorials and slides as well, and they are free.

@Bill-Kindle , where can I get the free ones first. Though, I have CBT Nugget videos on 2008.

@azedas101 Please visit Microsoft's Virtual Academy, there's plenty of material there available for free.
