As Dell takes on large debt for important purchases like EMC, they consider selling off some of their smaller product lines like SonicWall and Quest.

I think that this makes sense for a lot of reasons for Dell. Neither product fits their image all that well and SonicWall can be an outright embarrassment for them. That Dell owns SonicWall is very offputting to certain customers as Dell wants to be seen as enterprise class (which fits with their core product lines and the EMC acquisition) but SonicWall is very SMB and often considered a very bad product in those circles as well (especially for those looking for something more enterprise or those working with VoIP where they are exceptionally problematic.)

I, for one, will be very glad to see Dell rid of SonicWall. I hate having to explain to customers "Yes, Dell is good and we like working with them but we'd never recommend getting a SonicWall." It's difficult to get customers to trust a vendor when only some product lines are things you would even consider. It's one thing to have a weak product or line or model that does fit needs, but to have a product line you actually consider bad and not in line with vendor product values is difficult to rectify.

Dell has there fair share of quality control issues with laptops and and desktops anymore. The laptops have been plagued by motherboard isues.
