No Emails For a While

How many people actually use the email updates stuff? I delete them almost as soon as I receive them... probably should disable it to help out.
-
I would set the default to no longer send. Then if people want them, they can turn them on.

That would be good as we pay per email

Problem there is.... people who need them tend to be the ones who don't know how to turn them on or didn't turn them on and won't know. People who don't need them can easily tell to turn them off.

This is a good feature for non-frequent ML users.

Exactly. It is the newbie user who comes in, has a thread or two of their own, and wants to know that they are getting responses or that someone is IMing them.

What about disabling emails manually for everyone who has over 500 posts?

Could be done, but we'd need to code that up and it would be pretty surprising to people that suddenly their email behaviour changes individually like that.

These people don't need email notifications and they will consume the bulk of emails.

Holy crap I spend way too much time on this forum.

Do any of them have email alerts turned on, though?

I would imagine so if you are hitting 10k. This hog below may account for at least 10% of the emails if not more.

I don't get emails, though.

I know that most of those users on that list have their emails off. Some are probably on, but most are off.

How many different users have posted here?

And I don't get more emails per day than anyone else. The amount that I post does not really influence the emails sent out. It actually lowers the number.

Not any more, lol.
Ha ha.

I would suggest to have an automatic email alert when OP post a thread and any reply notification is turn off by default. This will help OP to locate the thread by email. If they are serious about their question, they better check back often.
I had to turn off the email notification because once I received 20-30 emails within an hour. too much. -
Don't kill them completely.
I really like that the IM's are sent as emails. Since the IM system only holds onto 90 days of messages, it's nice to have those for reference reason.
