Lenovo Battery Recall

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Dear Valued Lenovo Business Partner:
In cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lenovo is voluntarily
recalling approximately 41,500 lithium-ion batteriesin the Americas. These batteries were
manufactured for use with ThinkPad notebook computers that shipped between October, 2010 and
April, 2011. In the interest of public safety, Lenovo will offer customers free-of-charge replacement
batteries for all recalled batteries.
Lenovo sold the batteries with new notebook computers in the models listed below or as optional
stand-alone or replacement batteries:
Edge 11, Edge 13, Edge 14 Series
T410, T420, T510, W510 Series
X100e, X120e, X200, X201, X201s Series
These models may have shipped withone of the following part numbers (FRU P/N) affected by this
recall:
42T4695 42T4711 42T4798 42T4804 42T4812
42T4822 42T4828 42T4834 42T4840 42T4890
Only part numbers manufactured within a specific date range are affected by this recall. Lenovo
advises customers to determine if they are using one of the recalled batteries by visiting
www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram2014. A list of FAQs about the recall can be found there as well.

If you have a customer with a battery that has been recalled, please advise the customer to
immediately turn off their system, remove the battery, and only power the ThinkPad by plugging in
the AC adapter and power cord.
The customer should contact Lenovo Services or anauthorized Warranty Service Partner to schedule
a service provider to replace the battery. A worldwide list of support centers is available at

Lenovo is notifying the public about this recall program via notice on Lenovo’s Website, a press
release and letters to those customers that we have been able to identify. You may also contact your
customers directly to inform them of this action. Attached for your use is a sample letter that you
may choose to send to customers about the recall. -

Good news is that I was about to buy a new battery for the boss lady. Her's is a T410
and so are the other two in my fleet.
I told my Insight rep that this couldn't have come at a better time and thanks for letting me know in an email. Another reason why I love Insight.
