Ugh! Made the mistake of putting an install directory in a place where regular users can get to it. What do they do? Yup...install it. Nice going, morons!

Never was a big fan of Thunderbirds, but OK. The real unusual thing about it was we are expecting 12" of snow today and he is driving THAT thing in it?

My grandfather drove one of those for years. It was canary yellow.

      Really? That's cool!!

Hopefully he didn't park it like this guy did in the picture! (I noticed it while I was typing my response LOL.)

No clue all we have are pictures of it, he sold it before my mother was born. He had bought it brand new and took care of it like it was his baby.

My father wasn't too much of a car guy, but his dream car (truck) was the Little Red Express.

Little known fact: This truck was the fastest production vehicle you could buy in 1978

@Dashrender said in If you could get a Bachelor's Degree for under $8,000 in less than a year... would you?:

Maybe what Scott's saying is that the degree doesn't matter because in reality there are no jobs to be had. So having a degree, not having a degree, really doesn't matter because there are no jobs.

I would have to disagree with you on that. It depends on the area, obviously. Plenty in the Boston area. Hell, I've seen articles talking about a lack of candidates for IT jobs there.

    • RE: Trump appoints Kalanick and Musk to committee

I read some CEO of a company I can't remember that buying cars will stop in 5 years. Not only is that unrealistic, but outrageous. It's the "flyover nation" syndrome with that kind of thinking. Where I live not only do I see a need for a car, but I have a need for a 2nd car (well, a truck) and many people have more than 2. It's simply not realistic in rural areas.

Plus...people LOVE their cars!! That will not go away for a long, long time. If not ever.

    • RE: How do I get the forum heading back?

I agree. We can already click on recent posts. Why go to that when you click on that "home" icon (at least that's what I call it).
I remember seeing a thread discussing this. For me, it's confusing to click on home, and not going there. My car's GPS does that to me already.

Also Farm country.... farmers have to have their own vehicles.

Agree here. Where I live I have to literally take my trash to the transfer station. Something simple and dumb like that would be an issue for a "taxi" service.

    • Mercatus...Anyone Familiar?

I am trying to look up this company and how their software works but short of requesting a demo (bleh), I can't find any real tangible info.

Anyone know about Mercatus? I know it's pretty niche (solar industry) but I was wondering.

Here's a link to at least a small bit of what they do.

But again, why do you think that? A self driving vacuum dump truck could drive around everywhere and collect that. You'd never have to leave home.

So, a car for me to get to work, now a truck so I can get around on snowy days and times when I am working on my yard. NOW I need a dump truck for the garbage? Sounds expensive and impracticable.

I do get it...inner cities, this may work. Get outside the city and the idea collapses.

      @BBigford

I don't want to derail the thread but looking up stats, I noticed the lower the legal gun ownership, the higher the gun death rates were. D.C. had to lowest gun ownership, and the highest death rate. .

Is that at a state by state granularity? At the national level that's definitely not true. Compare the US and UK.

Impossible to compare the 2. Apples and oranges.

I swear, I'm not trying to derail this thread! 🙂

@BBigford That is true!! They just want to protect their bottom line!! LOL

Solar actually has the biggest profit involved since it is cheap to set up the infrastructure (relatively speaking). Sill sits around 11% of the market.
