The Wheel of Time series.
Honestly, I wasn't looking for a series like this. I'm pleasantly surprised. It's quite involved and I enjoy the byplay between the characters as well as the varied plot(s), although the constant 'stare that could flay the flesh from your bones' repetition gets tired.

Also, do they need to be PCI Compliant?
In my experience, it you want to transact using credit / debit cards, you'll either be PCI compliant today or compliant tomorrow. Either way, it comes into play. I think the current advertised 'due date' is sometime in 2020.

RE: Networking question, for a friend...
@kimberlin said in Networking question, for a friend...:
@scotth there is not a "regular" network for nic 1. It is a simple communication network between the computer and a command board.
Thinking this through, you're using an IP network capable device. In order to talk they both will have an address. I'm thinking you may at least bandaid this by setting NIC1's default gateway to the machine (command board). Just a guess.

RE: Networking question, for a friend...
Are you using a single / common default gateway?

58, while not exactly in the twilight years is certainly at the dinner table.
I thought that age was just a number. -

Any regulation of any kind is some form of control--not a positive or negative thing, it simply "is."
Net Neutrality isn't a regulation. Title II is. Net Neutrality isn't about control at all. It's an idea that packets will be treated equally.
I agree with that. But isn't the issue of today the vote that the FCC is making about a regulation?
It's about the regulation of the providers of service. Who can now choose to do whatever they want with the service you are buying from them.
IE they can reduce your ability to get access to NetFlix (imagine having to wait for over 3 hours to load a movie). You'd just stop using netflix and maybe even start using a service that they offer that competes with Netflix.
At twice the price

I haven't really had time to check.
Can I easily move my VM's from XenServer to KVM?Edit: If I use Veeam agent to create ISO's & backups, I should be ok. I'm guessing.

RE: Miscellaneous Tech News
Crap,
My XenServer home lab is running nice. Looks like I have a New Year's project. -

RE: Facilities management
I've seen many posts about Sodium Suite. Is / will there be a charge for the product and / or hosting? I don't have an issue with this, I just need to know when evaluating.

RE: Facilities management
I'll check these out. Eventually, I'll need to arrange for support. I'll be more about rolling it out, configuring & troubleshooting. Operations & issues, will be an operational function unless.... Well, you get the picture.

Facilities management
I did a search for 'facilities management' before I posted. Didn't see really see anything.
Does anyone have a recommendation for ticketing / asset tracking for facilities that I can try out?
Obviously, free / open source would be desired.

RE: Cradlepoint (Pertino) VPN and Watchguard Firewall
If your configuration is recent and the OS level is 12.x or better, out of the box the proxies enabled should be http, https, pop, smtp, ftp & tcp/udp. The settings are quite generic and you'll want to examine the live log as you attempt to connect looking for deny's. You may need to bump up the logging in the individual policies to catch your issue. The exception(s) can then be added to the proxy creating the issue.
I use OpenVPN as a client and connect to my network so I can't help or comment on your product.

Its hard to test "what would happen if" if you don't have a lab. It doesn't have to be an exact replica, but if you have some "application" servers (plex/kodi, freepbx, nextcloud, or whatnot), and you make a simple change in networking or in infrastructure, then you should be able to see what happens and how that affects your environment. How to setup backups. What happens if I VLAN this off? What would happen if I put that in my DMZ? Etc.
yeah we should have tested all of our network applications before we moved to win 10 but we did not. The management decided to move us there and new computers for around 400 staff so we have had some hiccups. Applications and other things have reacted differently than expected. Then one of management left and I am now picking up some of that workload. Its been enlightening.
Ouch. That's just bad management, lol.
Oh! Btw, we bought this. See if you can get it work by next Thursday.
ThanksOr LAST Thursday!
Did I mention that sales staff will be inputting customer information next week?
Making it work is kind of a bane. It's also ego soothing.
I'd rather have some notice --- just because. -
