Epic facepalming from FB land.
People are, rightfully, concerend and sad about the atrocity that happened in Manchester and yet the SAME people are cheering because some guy got crushed by an elephant that he shot... WTH!? Make up your minds people! Are you sad or happy when people die? You can't have it both ways!Hmmmmm, it's different though...one is Ironic after slaughtering a helpless animal, and the other is a terrorist attack. We process these things differently, as one died as a result of him being an idiot, and the others were tragically taken by some messed up person.
Not agreeing with them, the whole city here still has a weird feeling about it...so yeah...

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
I upgraded my GPU at the weekend - got a cracking deal on 3x EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid cards - should be £595 retail, but they were ex-display (never used in a system) and got them for £400 each! So upgraded my 1080 SuperClocked to the FTW edition and had a rework of my cooling setup (2 new fans put in, and the others rearranged).
Hitting 200+ fps on all the games I've tried so far!

Now they have to redesign that to not brick it... but
hopefullyjust disable the print reader instead.Arguably... shouldn't they have simply disabled the print reader to start with?
What about those of us who don't (won't) actually even use that feature?
That's what it was already doing BEFORE the update....

Maybe we should make a TV show with loads of stuff we actually do/use?

In banking, you aren't allowed to accept any gifts worth over $20. I also believe it is wrong morally to do it.
That's not true. Gifts are commonly enormous in banking. I've definitely had $5,000 (per head) dinners.
The mandatory compliance training (handled by a 3rd party vendor) goes over bribery every year.
Sure, but it doesn't apply to banking in general. Just a specific company or type. Banking, in general, has no such limitations.
Exactly, it's an FDIC rule, which doesn't apply to the majority of banking. Only certain types of banks are part of the FDIC in the US.
also, one of the exceptions to the rules are:
(b) Acceptance of meals, refreshments, entertainment, accommodations or travel arrangements, all of reasonable value, in the course of a meeting or other occasion, the purpose of which is to hold bona fide business discussions or to foster better business relations, provided that the expense would be paid for by the bank as a reasonable business expense if not paid for by another party (the bank may establish a specific dollar limit for such an occasion);
Pretty much anything could be held under this exception...

4x4 is a beautiful thing
Just means all 4 tyres spin..
And when tires spin... the car slides. With two wheel drive, two wheels tend to stay stuck to road. With all wheel drive, you easily have all four loose.
Can confirm. Slid into a ditch 3 days after getting my car (loose gravel, new driver, turn...in a manual...bad combo) because I was driving 4wd and thought it'd be better than RWD...nope. Learnt my lesson after that (also learnt to not cook the clutch on a curve...)

I don't understand where your issue is. Is the ISP provided device a NAT firewall? in other words, they don't just provide you an IP that is on the net?
What i'm saying is in the UK 90% of ISPs will give a dynamic IP. Also unless I can connect the EdgeRouter (or better Router) to the "internet" with a real IP and not set it up double NAT'n so to speak I don't see the point. Now with SKY for example they consider the Routers as managed devices so you can't use your own kit.
So for the average home user being able to use a 3rd party router would be pointless or over their technical ability to configure the network.
Yup, just got PlusNets "new" supposed top class router...its horrible, cant assign IP's to MAC's, can't setup multiple SSID's or change anything I want to...all I have is change SSID name, decide whether its dual band (2.4 and 5GHz) or to split them, change the DHCP pool range and...thats about it...

It honestly feels really weird that going to the CIO would even be in question at that point. Would the CIO really want shielding like that in the organization? Hopefully not, hopefully he trusting everyone to report up when they see something.
I assume the CIO employed the IT Director? That can make it tricky, because it can sound like you're implying that he was an idiot for recruiting an idiot. You need to tread carefully here.
Not really? You employ someone based on what their credentials etc are...the whole point of a probation period is to check if they are actually fit for the job? And in this case it sounds like this guy really isn't fit for the job...

Huh? The TV's..?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_licensing_in_the_United_Kingdom
You have to pay a tax based on the number of TVs in your house. They can audit you at will if they don't think you're being legit about it.
Not per number, just IF you have a TV and they Prove you use it to watch live TV (i.e. if it's just hooked up to a console, with no antenna it doesn't count) then you pay a set fee a year...
It's a national tax to fund Top Gear.
Now that the 3 amigo's/stooges aren't running it, I don't know what they will do with all the money.
BBC Exec's just drown their sorrows with expensive vodka.

The goal was never to get into just one phone. They wanted a legal precedent that would allow them to force a manufacturer to assist in breaking any phone, along with the potential to use the same case to force manufacturers to provide an encryption back door.
But they already have that? The smurf toolset gives all of that anyways doesn't it...?

RE: Reservation system
What systems do you already use? If you have Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, you can create a shared calender and share that with everyone for bookings? Or a similar online shared calendar system?
