@black3dynamite Oh i suppose that means the result of Get-SMBServerConfiguration is not string but a list of objects.

I went to do this and there was no OpenSSH server.
Then i remember optional features are disabled in WSUS.
I unjoined this pc from domain, then was able to find and install OpenSSH Server for Win10.

    • RE: AD, Group Policies and Moving Users to a new OU

@coliver said in AD, Group Policies and Moving Users to a new OU:

Are the users moving to a new forest? If they are just moving to a new OU you could either make them sub OUs of the Users OU. Or you could link the existing policies to the new OUs that you create.

No need to export or recreate OUs.

You actually cant make sub OU in Users or Computers because the default Users container isnt an OU. Same with Computers default container. If you right click on these>New> you will see OU isnt available.

I always thought this was something to be fixed but it is apparently by design.

@EddieJennings Storing data offsite isnt that bad, and if your ISP is given enough money per month then you can upload and download things to b2 at close to Gb speeds.

It is the 1804 server iso
The first step of the script fails and cant find redis-server, it then continues on through and installs everything else without a db.

Yes it is something Canonical has done to their server iso. Cant even install glances at the moment with it due to missing the software repos. Just doesnt make much sense why they would do that.

Well, the mmc crashes constantly. The updates dont install when you tell them too, computers dont follow the dont restart time windows. iisreset is required once a week to to even get mmc to populate data. Issues like that for a decade theyve done nothing about.

@dustinb3403 Yea it wasnt like that a few years ago at last job with VmWare and Veeam.
Wtf is the huge list of companies on that page? Cloud storage providers? No Backblaze, no Vultr listed. I even clicked Show More at least ten times.

This is the 3.5Ghz spectrum available for general use shortly. The Citizen Broadband Radio Service has been rebranded, and the spectrum sold off to wireless carriers, with provisions for public and private use.
How long until carriers like VZW ATT start making phones/modems/radios that use this band? What are advantages or disadvantages to current radio bands?

@rojoloco said in Getting A Dell T320 To Work As Dual Monitor Workstation:

Are you trying to get the dual monitors working on the server OS? Why not try a clean install of Win 10, then install the correct drivers. That might be an easier route if 10 is the desired OS for the system.

Yes, and if you are using a Windows Server for this at the moment, have you installed the Desktop Experience.

    • I must be doing something wrong... BIOS updates Dell servers

It seems to be impossible to update the bios on a Dell R220. Been trying for a loooong time. Tried to use the efi file, cant be chosen from the File Explorer in UEFI. Get 'non bootable device' if i choose it as boot device. Lifecycle Controller requires $ apparently.
I just found that Dell has made linux iso files for this purpose(likely because the current process is so bad), a separate one for each server they sell going back years now.
The iso images are 2.5GB each. Downloading one now very slowly, will need to use rufus to make it usb bootable.
Seriously why cant i just hit Ctrl Home during post and be done with it in 30 seconds like i could 15 years ago?

    • RE: Do I have a power supply problem?

      According to SuperMicro
      http://supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=18313
Update your BIOS and check again.
It could be normal, BMC reporting incorrect values which trigger an alarm.
      Does the system crash ever?

The error message just stops after the word "near "? You've got some sort of typo or missing some bracket somewhere.

It probably is easier to uninstall wsus role, delete the db, then reinstall wsus role than to try and fix a broken wsus db, if it is broken.

@jmoore You mean raid0/10 on sata?
A pciex ssd is about 2x as fast from what ive seen, so the performance should be nearly the same.
I do wonder, can you raid the pciex ssds? Probably not though im not sure. 2 of them in raid 0 would be insane.
