    • Hosted PBX Vendor

      I've got a small company I support (5 Phones), and they are currently running on a 1985 AT&T Merlin system. The phone bill is obnoxious ($600+).

      A week or so ago I posted thinking about hosting a pbx myself for them, but after feedback from the forum decided not worth the time or costs involved.

      Since then I've talked to several vendors... The big ones like Ring Central and 8x8. They seem very much the same per seat and add-on fee wise.

      Then I was suggested a company called Net2Phone. I've never heard of them but they seem to be less expensive and fewer add-on fees. Has anyone any experience with them?

      Thanks.

      PS: I posted this elsewhere, but deleted.

    • Remote Access & HIPPA

      I manage a few different locations for my organization. I was looking to setup (Mesh Central) or purchase a service like Splashtop to access systems remotely easier.

      However, one location I support deals with medical records for children and so I am thinking I need something HIPPA compliant. I don't know a lot about that, but from what I read as long as the connection is encrypted you are compliant.

      Does anyone else use Mesh Central in a setting like this? It is certainly a lot cheaper to host a $5 server and run it vs the expense of a tool like Splashtop.

      Thanks!

    • Where to start...

      Hello,

      Just looking for some help on where to start first...

      My company needs to start upgrading some of our infrastructure. Currently we are running on ESXi, with less than 15 VM's across two hosts. Everything is Windows (2012) and linux.

      We still have Exchange (2013) on-premise.

      My thought is that first step should be get the email to Exchange Online.

      Then move our systems to a cloud somewhere. Build out a site to site to a their datacenter and slowly build / upgrade things.

      Total storage of VM's / Exchange is less than 5TB.

      Thanks.

    • Phone Service Decision

      Hello,

      I support a small sister company that has 5 phones. I just got a look at their current phone bill and it is over $600 monthly. They are still on copper lines and an old AT&T merlin system without features like caller-id.

      At the moment I've got time, so thought I'd look to tackle this issue and get them something modern and fresh. I am stuck on which direction to go however.

      Am I better to just outsource it with someone like Ring Central or 8x8? I've been playing with FreePBX and Vultr hosting it. I've got a sip trunk with voip.ms...

      What route would others go? I don't see a lot of growing at this company so there wouldn't be a lot of adds and changes...

      Thanks

      @jaredbusch

      I see the same with all the services out there. I am skeptical of them, because I don't know if they are really service issue or just network issues causing trouble. Non-technical folks setting up the service.

      @scottalanmiller

      I used CommQuotes for this recommendation. They based it on my requirements this is one of the vendors they suggested. Just not familiar with N2P.

      @phil-commquotes

      Right now they have an 800 number, local number, and two fax lines.

      Calls come in to a ring group and buzz a couple phones. I don't even think an auto attendant is required. I'm more trying to save money on the bill vs features.
