As a Manager something I hear a lot in business training classes is avoid hiring anyone under the age of 25. You will deal with entitlement issues and lack of maturity.
As a manager I have seen the young one who is awesome and is mature and settled but far more of the unable to handle the day to day structure of working in a real job.
So I do understand the paying your dues bit. You have to prove your reliability more than your abilities to do a job these days.
Sigh do I need to give you people more to do?
We are officially open until 12 on Christmas eve and closed until Monday morning at 8am! My whole team is very happy about that I think.... at least I hope

I live in the area which is where https://www.americanrocksalt.com/ is. Saw the headline of people trapped in the mine in NY this morning gave me a start. We have many friends that work in the local one. Glad it was just an elevator issue and not a collapse. Still not good but not immediately life threatening either.

Funny of the morning: Super cold at my house this morning so I started the car like 15 minutes before I had to leave.
Fast forward 15 minutes go out to get in the car open the back door to put stuff in the car. And something ran into my leg (made me shriek). Bunny tired to kill me! I literally scared the crap out of the poor thing and it went hopping back under the car (heard it hit its head), out the other side and down the drive way 
Interesting start to my day.
Scott and I have actually known each other since highschool. He was the best man in my wedding.
ML/Grovesocial: There are lots of lines crossed but this is separate from NTG it's self. NTG is my day job but I own ML/Grovesocial. NTG is the technical support for the platform and obviously Scott is also part of that NTG team and as a close friend he does a LOT to help me out around here.
My Goal for ML it's self is to keep the team for ML small. I do not want to get massive, as that changes the overall way things are run and how personable we can be.
ML is almost 2 years old! We have just started advertising here and will also be having MangoCon in September of this year. The goal is to keep MangoCon at around 250 people, maybe a little higher than that over time but we want to keep it small enough so that people can really get to know each other.

@DustinB3403 Email is actually more appropriate, with maybe a text to say I sent an email take a look. After 9pm unless there is an outage don't bother employees at home.

Leaving York, NY Sunday Morning
Reidsville, NC for dinner with Friends
Salisbury, NC Monday and maybe Tuesday (if you think you will only need 8 hours to do a job always plan for 16)
Then the EPIC part of the road trip:
We will get on Interstate 40 in Statesville, NC and be on it till Los Angeles.
So far planning on (hoping to)
See Grand Canyon
Stop in Las Vegas for a night or 2
Spend a day at the Santa Monica Pier and beach area
Then Head back:
We will take Interstate 15 out of CA and getting on Interstate 70
Stopping in Indianapolis, IN to visit @scale and company.
Then on home on Interstate 70 up to Interstate 90.
Hoping to be back home by May 24th.
Phew now I am tired just thinking about it.

Happy Friday.... or is it?
Woke up, at 5:00am, to the sound of heavy rain this morning. Commence the running around the house to close windows. Climb back in bed, after all who wants to be up at this ungodly hour?
Try and fall back to sleep, no luck, puppy number one jumps up to cuddle. Ok I give up, wonder what’s been going on over night. Grab the trusty cell phone and, oh look there are emails. [ Piece of advice NEVER open your work email in bed at 5:00am on a Friday morning. Nothing good came come from this, please take my advice, learn from my mistakes people! ] Sure enough there are a couple emails one from the car rental company and one from the hotel we will be staying at Sunday -Tuesday. Wanna guess what they both said?? I dare ya!
You guessed it they both cancelled our reservations for various reason!!! double-facepalm-through-face-i0
Panic fly out of bed out to the computer and start the search all over for a new vehicle (no one wants to drive their personal vehicle full of servers all the way across the whole US) 6,000 miles in 2 weeks. I did find one, and it was local, but double the price, oh well it is nice and close, so that is something at least. Hotel was much easier and less stressful. But really? This is not a good sign for the start of our trip.
Last conference call for the next two weeks is out of the way. Now on to the finish packing phase. Art_of_shred is currently packing up and stacking all the servers and switches.
Pretty soon we will be off to pick up the Mini Van we rented and get it all packed up. Tonight Art_of_Shred has band practice and a gig he wants to go to tonight (not his, a buddies). Tomorrow we have a bit of running around to do to finish getting ready, and to make sure the semi-adult and puppies living here won’t starve to death while we are gone.
