    • Hello IT Community!

Studying Comptia A+ 1001 currently to take my test before conquering 1002.
I'm here for the community, advise and learning experience.
(Reddit is way too negative and saturated for me).

Currently going down this path of IT to make more money and promoted out this call-center within my same company or find more money elsewhere for me to start education in programming and support myself and girlfriend to get her to stop serving and start her career path.

I'm excited to join the community, thanks for your read.

@Obsolesce I remember reading a post of AMA someone being asked "If you could start your carrier over and do it all over again, what would you do?" and at this time i knew i'm interested in cyber security and the persons reply was if they could go back they would do IT studies before the coding because it would of been a better advantage learning wise and carrier starting. Personally i'v been studying on and off with coding. Previous laptop broke and too busy at work to study on work computer (except Sundays, hints this). Just bought my new laptop and decided to start the IT for the financial gain, which will be a gain because i already have experience in my current office job minus in-field work. So currently only A+ than Security+, than CySEC+. Of-course while working and completing a cert each month.. My goal is to have all by April 2021-May at latest .. My first test is coming Jan 28th for 1001. Once i have at-least A+ ill start practicing my JavaScript once more and brush up on my HTML. The idea just came to me to make a site while i study to keep track of what i'm learning with a blog to seal the information, if i published at-least it would put me steaks to be held accountable even more so. Seems like what i'v came up with as a plan as of now if it don't change. In all honesty it could change, considering i simply want the money. I even thought to start a small business out my home just to get work experience... I just have ideas an goals so this is where i'm at.

      Great question.

No id dont think i bypassed anything , i just work at a callcenter and have no IT or helpdesk job i work w a electrical. i get what you mean, im not able to change or see anything major besides whats been discovered, id like to keep the job and say nothing...

Funny thing i accually tried to use the situation to send to the IT department and see if they could get me a job over, turns out only SUP can talk with IT departments and the emails i tried to send off too are old. i was excited to use it in a positive way. Yeah ill just learn at the job and not take a risk of termination by telling/

Turns out we have a helpdesk feature in our tools so should be pretty easy.

      @EddieJennings @Obsolesce

I did think about the termination part of if I did report it would I have to worry about such, personally I've had the responsibility to find bugs with the new windows 10 so I think either way I can swing it up to. "I was checking the security"
I mean its easy enough to make a batch to

      Echo
      Start cmd

They have it right with R+WindowsKey blocking CMD though...

As for reporting. .. Well I work as a contractor on behalf of the call center but am considered as employment with my (ompany(A) for company(B) who we connect through a VPN with... i checked the DHCP by internet and it links to company(B). They had it backed by a username and password and by continuing farther I would be subject for monitoring. So left that... Now for my local machine all of our IT department is in Philippines. I'll see what i can do by email to inform them.

    • I bypassed my jobs security restrictions...

Occasionally I get bored at work such as on Sundays where I do my studies of informational technology I'm pretty interested in security and also command prompt and basically how computers function. Where i can look at the networks and configurations of a real office environment even though a lot of things are blocked off (not much security except being controlled by remote desktop permissions in control panal) , I used my knowledge to bypass these things and learn about the way the network structure works (they blocked the network map) which is very interesting to me considering it is a private A-class IP so took interest in what I can see within my companies network like the forestroot.local (Host). Today I accessed the control panel and found som, and found there's 5 primary DHCPs/sites it changes between) i found interesting ways to get around some of the administrator restrictions functions they missed to block(i decided to optimize thin-cliant for performance, seems to made a difference), which I assume they cant simply block because its local settings but it give viewing rights even in security logs, (so many different users on these logs). I'm curious if a administrator finds my logs of the different accesses I've been through. Am I risking termination or is a curious mind good for their security, recently we upgraded our systems to Windows 10 and I was the one to be the bug tester and work with IT on everything.
I'm not sure if I should report it because I like using the situation to learn. I am curious if by doing this will the informational technology department find theses actions serious if it's a situation of look but don't touch?

I am currently studying for my A+ certification working out of a call center and using my job's not busy days for learning.

      Questions comments concerns are welcome.

    • If you were to start all over, knowing what you know now.

This is my second post, I really got feedback on my last one very much so an enjoyed the realism and straight direct approach of the feedback that I received so thank you for everybody who reply and have replied in the past. It really helped me understand that I actually need a real plan and direction. Without that how could I see the end of a goal so thank you very much.

If you were to start a business in IT , infield cable setup/helpdesk network setup and administration, let's say you have a office located that can fit 8 people in total with there own office and some in the 3 of these are big enough to double up if needed, Where would you start in your social networking and what position to fill would be your main priority to fill?

I hear the best start to a startup business is hiring people smarter than you and f.a.i.l-ing First Attempt In Learning, and i know the market isn't exactly hot right now for businesses so i am stating this topic as a hypothetical in a manner of speaking.

Thank you for reading and sharing your opinions.

@JaredBusch said in Hello IT Community!:

Then get a cert or two, and get a helpdesk job at a smal or medium business where you do everything.

While doing a couple years there for experience, get your security certs.

      Then move on.

      Thank you for that advice.

@EddieJennings It 100% is hard to figure out where id like to branch off too with Informational Technology , Im very glad everyone is asking me these questions to give me a realistic approach . I will do more expansion into understanding the different fields i will be most interested in.

At this time, i like building/taking apart old computers as a hobby and don't see that as a viable carrier path with how my curiousness leans more into Command Prompt understanding the backed, which makes me think System Administrator.

So we got the position figured out guys System Administrator... Thing is i think most major companies are Linux/Redhat based now right?

i know jack shit of Linux
