Vultr
I don't have any experience with Vultr. Can any of you good folks tell me the differences between it and WPEngine or Rackspace?

RE: Centralized Imaging/OS Deployment
Oh ok I see. I don't have any problems doing that yet.

RE: Centralized Imaging/OS Deployment

They have several packages but on mobile browser i couldn't compare the difference, mind telling what package you use? I need to check this in detail tomorrow morning
We have the basic package. The difference in packages is number of help tickets you are allowed and your response time. I'm not aware of any issues that we have had yet.

Yes I auto join our domain.
how do you rename then auto join?
Sorry I probably was not clear. I set it to join our domain as it is installing. When installation process has finished it comes up to Windows 10 log in screen. It is already joined to our domain according to answer file I created. I log in with my credentials and then rename the pc according to what department it is going to.

RE: Centralized Imaging/OS Deployment
They offer a fully functioning free trial. Can use images and things you create afterwards if you decide to buy.

RE: Centralized Imaging/OS Deployment
Yeah I use SmartDeploy. Love it. I can deploy over network or USB. Actually choose USB most of time though. I made an image with our software, loaded all the drivers I will ever need, created an answer file, boot to USB, don't have to touch it again until its ready to log in which I then do so to rename computer per our naming scheme.

RE: Shared File Databases vs Database Servers SAMIT Video
Oh that's funny and interesting! Might I ask what sort of work so I can see a little bit about what is done?

RE: Shared File Databases vs Database Servers SAMIT Video
Ahh thanks a lot! That was enlightening and interesting. I know just enough to be dangerous with database software lol from using it in wordpress. However, I am going to learn more about this because I like to keep learning.

RE: Why QuickBooks Is Not a Business Tool
@scottalanmiller said in Why QuickBooks Is Not a Business Tool:
Not quite, because in theory desktops work just fine on their own without a server. The RDBMS isn't for administration, it's for arbitration. It's more like hundreds of users sharing a single workstation without different accounts. So you have to trust all other users not to mess with your files. And you have to trust that they will leave sticky notes saying what files they have been working on and if they can be changed or not. And they have to trust that you will honor their sticky notes.
It's "blind, full trust, anonymous users." It's utterly insane.Ok i see. My understanding was still a bit off then. That sounds just crazy. I investigated Quickbooks once but didn't like it. Thats why I could recommend Xero. I just didn't know how Quickbooks worked and why it was so bad. Thanks again for the explanation.

RE: Why QuickBooks Is Not a Business Tool
Ok thanks a lot for the reply and explanation. I understand the basics of relational databases but I just didn't know what Quickbooks used and what you meant by sharing a database. Thanks for explaining. I see now why I did not understand and it is because I never thought of any business just using a file to control everything and not the rdbms. That is just really weird and I don't get why they still do it that way. For an analogy, wouldn't that be something like having a couple thousand desktops in a place and not using a server of any kind for administration?

Shared DB File Instead of Server:
Scott,
What do you mean by this statement? I only ask because I want to understand better. -
RE: Why QuickBooks Is Not a Business Tool
I don't have a lot of experience in this area with different products but I can recommend Xero at least for personal/small business needs.

I will check that out Scott, thanks!

RE: what programming language can I learn now ???
If you are on Windows then most people will suggest Powershell but its really just scripting. You can do do things with C++, Python, Java, and Ruby but you have to be a lot more creative. Powershell can start giving results fast.
If you are on Linux most will just use bash scripting or possibly a little bit of C.

RE: Wifi extenders
Also you could try changing the channel. On android they make wireless apps where you can analyze the wireless channels and then pick one that is by itself. That has some good results for people and its free/quick. Might be worth a shot. Something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en

RE: Trying to Install log.io on Fedora 26
I finally got Log.io running and I like it. It will be really useful on the server for my website.
