If you want to focus on experience, you can try some tools like http://vizualize.me/grey and integrate some of the graphics to your resume. As you can see, I've done this and included social links, too. All of the recruiters and HR people want to see that since it saves them the effort of tracking your social/facebook profiles down.

I have my FB profile locked down fairly well, I could lock it down even more I suppose. I really don't think my private time is really any of their business.

Do you maintain specific things for them to find?

Yes. I ABSOLUTELY don't use facebook and so my profiles are well-maintained. I don't publish anything that's easily searched, though I'm sure some savvy Google searching could locate non-professional stuff if they wanted to. Overall, though, my LinkedIn is the only thing people look at from a hiring perspective.

I'm quite a bit more findable than you, but not direct postings...

I like to think I'd give this show a run for their money: http://ew.com/article/2016/11/28/hunted-cbs/

The existing shares wouldn't automatically be imported into DFS. It is pretty easy to add them after the roles are assigned though. What you want is doable. We don't use DFS-R here just use a DFS namespace to make things easier for the end user.

Is there a powershell to import the existing shares?

      @coliver said in DFS conversion:

Yes? I'm not sure what you are asking. You can indeed move preexisting shares to DFS. Do you want to replicate the shares between hosts or just put them in a DFS namespace?

Replication would be part of DFS-R, so if I get the DFS roles installed on both servers and set them to replicate, would the existing shares migrate in? Basically, I want to shrink all of the "go to XXXX server and YYY share" down to "go to \domain.com\share" for users, and at the same time increase our reliability by adding file server replication.

Have you converted a pair of 2012 file servers to a DFS even though they had shares on them? Can it migrate the data/shares in to the DFS, combining the servers? I'm considering doing this and wondering if it's even possible before I spend time on it.

You can do a retropi 3 for about $75 if you count the case, SD card and controllers. ROMs are up to you. If you add a small screen, you might bump it to $150.

So, what's the current method to add a single trusted site to my intranet zone in GPO, eh? And where do I modify all of the trusted sites/zones and activex now?

I was answering the above question. Of course these will say not configured, because you haven't configured them yet.

That's the thing though; there is configuration from the previous IT Team.
      CRwvU7j.png
I should be able to edit that and I just can't. The path shown isn't there for me.

Are you using IEAK 10 by chance?

I installed it last night when I saw your question. It's on my laptop. Nothing happens when I click on it so I'm unsure what's going on here. I'd be happier if it just gave me the ADM file.

Trusted sites are User Config > Policies > Admin templates > Windows Compontnets/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page > Site to Zone Assignment List

The number 2 is trusted sites. You can use *.domain.com and *.ip, and IP

      CnSiWC3.png
Every item in that tree is 'not configured' and I'm expecting that there should be items just as shown in my initial image. There should be some stuff for activex and a whole list of allowed/trusted sites and certs for many internal locations. This path doesn't have it, and the path listed (initial pic) doesn't exist.

You have "Trusted Sites Zone" selected. Select "Security Page", and edit the template named "Site to Zone Assignment List"

That item is also not configured. My point was that every item that's a sub of security page is not configured.

    • GPO Path?

I'm at a loss here on this issue. I need to change/update material that's in a GPO for IE (I know). It's an old GPO.
      SpDuRF8.png
As you can see, the path provided is \user config\policies\windows settings\IE maint\Security\Security Zones & content\etc.
Unfortunately, the current GPO hash doesn't have that path, and everything I've read on Technet and elsewhere says that the old path is deprecated and there's a new path, but that path isn't in my GPO either!

Made some DNS changes in my lab and the AD replication is much cleaner and healthy now.

Did you put the _msdcs.domain.com stuff directly beneath 'forward lookup zones' in the DNS tool, with a greyed out folder in domain.com that's named _msdcs, or did you populate that folder as a sub from domain.com?

      Neither, adapter changes. 🙂
Some old IP's and such from the original build out months and months ago.

Our users have no idea how to maintain a file server or use things for their intended purpose so I want to establish a policy immediately when this thing goes live so if their files are deleted it's their own problem

Good luck getting this by management. My boss would never allow something that auto deletes something after not being touched for some period of time.

Perhaps she would allow some type of auto archive that the user would then have to contact IT to get it back, but auto delete - never.

We have docs that share data and that folder must be auto-cleaned. HIPAA.
