Ouch! $1500 plane ticket from Minneapolis

The cost is nothing, look at the flight time!!

I'm getting there by boat out of Buenos Aires for my birthday next year.

I can deal with flight time, I do Minneapolis to Ho Chi Minh city twice a year, those tickets are only $700. Now by boat would really stink!

Isn't that a bit closer? And... twice a year?

USH is closer to MSP than SGN. Typically is 29 hours of travel time from MSP to SGN (MSP-SFO-NRT-SGN).

I go twice a year as 2/3 of our organization is located in HCMC, it is a fun trip every time!

Actually it is a horrible feature, IMO. You are making the person calling you dial digits after already likely dialing something to get to you in the first place.

This is for the receiving end of the call if I did my research correctly. Press 1 to answer this call. I use it on my Google Voice number and love it.

This is correct. The sending party doesn't know the difference. They get to listen to music on hold while we try to get someone from their support team on the line. Our support personnel have to press 1

Why is the Internet on a watertower?

Not a water tower in this case.. Most of those are around 200'

Because I live in an area where only 1Mbps DSL is available so we have Wireless ISPs (WISPs)

    • FreePBX Asterisk Music on Hold Streaming Sources

Just about everyone that uses our conference system is complaining about the stock music on hold that is included. Personally I agree the music is dated; however, it is free and what came preloaded.

I am curious to see what anyone else is doing for this. I was looking at easyonhold.com today and setup their demo stream in under 5 minutes which is good quality and not the same old boring.

Anyone have experience (pricing) for these guys or other alternatives?

      Thank

Not everybody is privileged to have 1 Gbps Internet connections.

I should have 366Mbps by end of summer, if all goes well.. Still not 1Gbps though

We just use the generic 🙂 We don't really keep people on hold.

Ouch 😉 Yea this is just for the people that decide they want to dial in 15 minutes early to a conference call (meetme). We have leader wait turned on. Not convinced we need to invest dollars here but it has wiggled its way to the C-levels so here I am.

Watching the MLS vs Real Madrid All-Star game. I have decided I would like to be renamed to Bastion Schweinsteiger. That just sounds like a kick-butt name.

The point for these users is the Mac OS

Is this business case or just the users want to have it?

If there is no business case behind it why add the complexity of managing another OS?

Now to @Minion-Queen point if it isn't broke don't fix it, I agree with that stance, but when it comes time for refresh I would be having the conversation.

    • RE: Ubuntu Server 2 Network Interfaces whith 1 that is public + 1 that VPNs back home

Depending on what your agreement includes, how much you plan on hosting in azure, etc. You may want to look at the VPN gateway, essentially a vRouter that can communicate with your azure private networks and create a site to site tunnel back home. Make sure not to confuse this with ExpressRoute.

      I'm confused.

IPchicken/What's my IP are sites that do little more than tell you the IP source address in the IP packet sent to them.

tracert is a command that finds the path that your packets travel to get to a location on a network.

      Right -

Let me add that I'm showing a Fibrant IP, but I am suppose to have a static TWC IP.

Are you saying that 17x.xxx.210.1 from your first post is a Fibrant IP? How did you determine this? We can see from your tracert you are taking a TWC route (the second hop is rr.com (road runner).

Like @scottalanmiller said tracert won't get you your IP, just the routers on the way out.

Just got the dreaded M$ call for our every other year audit. At least the new online form was only about 15 minutes of work because nothing has changed since our last one. It was claiming I have -32 licenses for Server 2019 which I don't even have installed?? oh well.

Hmm.. I will be interested in this new process. I just got the email this morning for mine; however, they said fill out the attached deployment summary and didn't attach anything. :man_shrugging:

Mine was a link to Microsoft Insight

All of my volume license info and Office 365 stuff was already loaded. Basically just have to fill out how many computers and servers use whatever OSes. I don't have any SQL licenses or anything like that, but I'd imagine they would have been preloaded if I did.

Hmm.. That site looks shady as hell. Not even owned by Microsoft. If I had to guess the third part vendor that did your audit was https://www.insight.com/en_US/buy/partner/microsoft.html

      What? Time to move.

This is Minnesota, not Texas, after all. I mean I have a Taco Bell 20 miles away, but I wouldn't consider that viable.
