When I was using Ubuntu Desktop, I used swapfile instead of a swap partition just so I don't have to waste disk space.

Ubuntu has moved to it as the default, now.

      When did that start?

I can understand... but look at it from my POV.... ugh..

Trust me, it's even worse from here!

    • Exporting DefaultAssociation XML file Fails

I have been working on Exporting the defaultAssociationXML files and it kept failing using the command below:

      DISM /online /export-defaultappassociations:"C:\DefaultAssoc.xml"

      Then I get this error:

      0_1525120962929_2018-04-30_1642.png

Reviewed it and it happens on all 1709 computers, so I find this post:
      https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5161bd23-733e-4e2f-a500-d652fc23b81d/the-current-user-associations-could-not-be-exported-to-file-error-0x80004002?forum=win10itprosetup

Basically is a Windows Update that broke this. So in the meantime I am running this on a VM but if anyone comes across this then you will know why.

set and treated as new, but am hoping that there is a simpler process. Anyone know of any options other than nuke it and start over?

If you know the previous Admin password you can try this:

Otherwise is reset and add again.

I am trying to find Microsoft's best practice for validity lengths of CA root and subs. Does anyone know what Microsoft's recommendation is?

The default is 5 years, but you can change it to what you want. I mean you want the CA roots to not expire too often. That being said if your environment is setup correctly you will get the certificate to be renewed automatically.

I figured it out. You have to use the Printer defaults button on the advanced tab. It opens the same window as shown in the OP, but it will apply it to the clients.

Yes, that is where you always do it. Remember that when you change printer drivers you need to change it all over.

@ccwtech said in Computers not syncing with Domain Controller. Is my GPO blocking it?:

Computers in a domain are not syncing time with the Domain Controller (Hyper-V). They are all set to the local CMOS clock.

I had to restrict the ability for local users to change time by themselves. Is the GP that I created preventing the computers from syncing to the domain?

      0_1538061340847_1.png
      0_1538061350915_2.png

The time can be in different zones and not affect connectivity to the domain as long as it is 5 minutes from the DC time via UTC. Now I would really make the computers to just point to the DC as their NTP Server instead of anything else.

I thought they did by default in a domain.

They should but it is not enforced.

What do I need to do to enforce it? Or point them to the DC to use?
