It is very hard to say that whether they will die and remain out of the market. Such inventions are the ones which become the part of people everyday's routine. The Assignment Help UK Cheap services also have individuals in the team which produce the assignments after deep and thorough research to help the individuals lay the foundation for various inventions etc.

it may never die 100%, just like VHS and Betamax players are still out there and used by few.

@dashrender said in printing notes section of Calendar Outlook on the web:

I have a user who wants to print what's written into the notes section of a calendar entry. Unfortunately, it's more than one page, and when you ctrl ^ P you only get the first page worth.

Outlook-on-the-web is pretty thin on printing features. I logged in and tried a couple of different ideas but couldn't find a way to print a long event description either. It is what it is I guess.

We use Zoho primarily and as a comparison Zoho's calendar lacks rich text formatting in the description but render links and will print multiple pages of description - if you pick print while viewing an event, not ctrl+p.

Gmail on the other hand will also print several pages of the description - if you pick print on an appointment, not ctrl+p. It supports rich text formatting but will drop the formatting when printing.

Thanks for looking - I'm definitely not changing systems just for that function - but perhaps that will be helpful for someone else.

It's expensive. If you print a lot, it's crazy. If you hardly print anything, maybe the convenience is worth it. But if you print a lot, maybe it's rethinking printing itself that would make sense.

It's mind blowing that O365 didn't have that option since day one.

On linux you have the vmd module in the kernel. ESXi also have drivers.

Damnit - it's been awesome for several years with Windows 10 where no external drivers were needed during install because they were all baked into the default ISO... since the VMD stuff has been around since 2018 (though only in laptops since Gen 11 Intel Core processors) I really wish MS would include it in new ISOs.

Maybe Windows 11 has it....there is always hope at the horizon.

      I was serious this time.

I looked it up - it was called Clippy (or officially Clippit).
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_Assistant

You're too young to remember the horror of Clippy?

Get off my lawn! Consider yourself lucky!

I am lucky! Not because I'm too young but because I'm too old - too old to remember every irritating thing Microsoft managed to come up with...

Clippy - how could you possibly forget about Clippy? Now - if you said you forgot about MS Bob - that I could understand.

You just had to bring up MS Bob, didn't you! I spent an evening while working as an intern for my high-school installing that **** ******* piece of **** software in an entire classroom. Nobody could figure out how to use it, even with the teacher's manual to refence.

What's even funnier - I have no clue what MS Bob is - other than quite possibly the worse piece of software MS ever put out. and I only know that by reputation.

thanks, I'll kill 10 mins another time.

@dashrender or just don't install Windows 11 Home if you don't plan to give Microsoft more insight into your personal habits.

This in my opinion makes little sense to work around from an end user or implementator standpoint.

With the online account you get better integration to backup systems (OneDrive).which for a home user is a pretty important feature. Among other features.

If you simply don't want these features for.a home device, why bother with Windows 11 at all?

If not already, not a practical thing for a typical home buyer buying a new computer today, because Win 11 comes on the computer.

But you're right - those people likely are better off using those services than not. God know if they buy a mac they are buying into that ecosystem - if they buy a chromebook, they are buying into that ecosystem.... so it's not really any different.

None the less - not many home users are surfing ML - and those that are should be able to find answer like this.

User education is next thing - and we do provide user education at hiring and then once a year. I really wonder - for the average worker - how effective is it? I think the answer to this comes down to your employees themselves. Again, someone also already mentioned that as well.

In my company, KnowBe4 has been really good. Users get yearly and quarterly videos and are encouraged to ask questions. Plus I setup a random monthly phishing scam test in addition to my very targeted bi-annual spear phishing tests I setup.

I really like it when users ask for help to decipher whether an email is phishing or not. We go over the potential red flags and if it is a Phishing test, I will let the user decide whether to click the link or not. 99% of the time they pass. If they click it, we have a small chat right then and there about what just happened.

Management only gets serious about it when they hear something in the news or through the client grapevine. Then its all hands on deck until.....

IMHO, it has been pretty effective when they see demonstrations of what is possible as compared to letting them read a PowerPoint, answer a couple questions and move on. Kind of like the great Medical - Fraud, Waste and Abuse presentation. All I hear is, "Ugh, anyone have the answers?" or similar statements.

Yeah, I've been asking for a solution like this for years. I even did one of their free tests, and the amount of people (and the specific people) who failed it was staggering (OK not really - come on, we know users). But the board just said - come on, can't you just train them? which I replied - no, I can't. it's not my skillset and the other features included in these packages would take ages for someone like me to develop, etc - they still said no.

Now fast forward to now - new CEO, new board members - those two groups have decided to buy into training solution because of other reasons.. and this solution does include some computer smarts type training.

We have KB4 Gold package that is good enough for us. No need to go above that for the medical field IMHO.

@dashrender said in ProxMox eating SSDs?:

Anyone run into this issue on enterprise hardware?

There is no "issue". Even those that claim that they are running into it, it's consumer drives with HA logging going to those drives. Its' nothing to do with ProxMox, it's just standard, everyday CoroSync logging. The people saying "this is system administration basics" are correct.

Or just understanding what hardware you need for the job.

All VM guest OS will write to the same drive as well. So 10 guests will generate 10 times as many writes + whatever the hypervisor itself is generating.

I just checked and Crucial MX500 have 0.2 DWPD, which is not bad for a consumer drive.
But compare that to enterprise drives that usually start at:

1 DWPD (read-intensive) 3 DWPD (mixed use) 10 to 100 DWPD (write intensive)

It's not a normal.dot type problem is it? Where the originator used normal.dot as their doc tempate, saved it as .dot again and it's screwing up everyone's normal.dot that reads / alters the document.

I've not worked in hospitals but can image them with different needs and device purposes.

I worked for an 18k employee hospital system. All the support staff (IT, administration, etc) had laptops. The hospitals themselves used desktops as shared stations, but even administrators (or anyone with an office who didn't use shared computer) at hospital locations used laptops.

I work with doctors and we see desktops over laptops. Lots of laptops, to be sure. But desktops remain common that we see. Even in current green field deployments.

Oh - for the doctors themselves - absolutely, in general it seems they don't want to carry anything around with them, so that leaves desktops as the primary interface for them.

In hospitals in-patient care I generally still desktops also generally with swipe care access, at least on in room computers.

@scottalanmiller As someone who has had to deal with vendor supplied hardware and software for a medical practice, I have come to firmly believe vendors are the enemy, a $very $very $expensive enemy.

Yup. In some cases, a true enemy. In others, just on the other side of the chess board. It's not always malicious, normally it is not. But their interest are very, very different than ours and their financial responsibilities oppose ours. So they are stuck either being ethical to their employers, or ethical to the people they are paid to convince to do things not in their interest.

If they are true to their employer, they can be ethical across the board. If they try to be good for the customer, they have to be unethical to their employer. A nonsensical situation.

That is a very poor guide. You posted a script. I expect to copy and paste it and see something work.

Jared is right to a point.

I've now gone back and added variables to all of my scripts making it easier for someone using these to see that they need to enter their own information into the variables to make it work.
I could take it a step further and prompt for that data - but one thing at a time.
